Year 9 Course Counselling Meetings

All Year 9 students will participate in a 30-minute course counselling meeting at Kildare Campus next week (4 – 8 August). These meetings provide an opportunity for students and parents to discuss what Year 10 will look like for them in 2026, including subject selections and future pathways. Bookings can be made through the Compass App.

Semester 1 Awards Ceremony

The Semester 1 Academic Awards Assembly was held on Tuesday 29 July. A total of 96 students were recognised for their outstanding academic achievements during the first semester.

Academic Excellence awards were presented to students who achieved an A in English and maintained an A average across their other subjects. Academic Distinction awards were presented to students in Years 7–10 with an overall A+ average, and to VCE students who achieved an A+ average in two or more subjects.

We also celebrated students who achieved 'Exceeding' proficiency in NAPLAN for Reading and Mathematics.

It was fantastic to see such strong support from families at the assembly, acknowledging and celebrating the effort and success of our students.

Here is a list of student recipients of each award:

Year 9 Taster Program

In the final week of term, our Year 9 students took part in an exciting three-day Taster Program, designed to give them a real insight into what it’s like to be a Year 10 student at Brigidine Campus. The program offered students the opportunity to experience 12 different 30-minute subject sessions, covering a broad range of learning areas. These sessions were led by our passionate and knowledgeable Year 10 and 11 teachers, who brought energy and enthusiasm to every class.

Highlights of the program included engaging hands-on experiences in Physics, Health Services, Humanities, VET Engineering and more. Students were encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and explore subjects they may not have previously considered. They also completed a reflection journal throughout the program to help them identify areas of personal interest and potential future study.

To conclude the experience, students completed a survey about the program. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive - students reported that the subjects were engaging, the sessions helped clarify their learning pathways and subject selections for 2026 and they enjoyed the chance to try something new. The Taster Program proved to be a valuable step in preparing our Year 9 students for the exciting journey ahead.

This session was followed up by the Subject Selection Evening on Monday of this week which involved parents and students speaking with teachers of the Year 10 - 12 subjects and listening to a presentation about pathways. The last step in subject selections for Year 9 is attending the course counselling meetings next week held at Kildare Campus. These can be booked online using the Compass App.
