Kurri Kurri High School Music Department Update 🎶

Term 2 has been a vibrant and productive time for our Music students and staff!

We are excited to share that Miss Bailey spent the first two weeks of term undertaking professional development at NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art), where she completed a TAFE Certificate in Entertainment Industries. Her intensive training covered sound, lighting, vision systems, and stage management. We’re thrilled to announce that Miss Bailey and Mrs Harris will be delivering this course to our senior students from 2026 – an amazing opportunity ahead!

In the classroom:

  • Year 7 has wrapped up their Bucket Drumming assessment with great energy and enthusiasm. They are now diving into the concept of Pitch, exploring composition techniques and keyboard skills.
  • Year 9 are expanding their musical horizons by exploring the Music of Other Cultures, deepening their appreciation for global sounds and traditions.
  • Year 10 students have been immersed in the intricate sounds of the Baroque Period, and are now transitioning into composition work using the exciting digital platform Hookpad.
  • For Year 12, the pressure is on as they prepare for their HSC Trial Exams in Weeks 1 and 2 of Term 3. We’re incredibly proud of their dedication and wish them all the best of luck in their preparations.

With creativity flowing and new opportunities on the horizon, it's shaping up to be a fantastic year for Music at Kurri Kurri High!

STARSTRUCK

Our extra-curricular dancers, including four Kuta Kaya students, have had a huge term preparing for Starstruck. After weeks of dedicated rehearsals, they are proudly dancing their hearts out this weekend at the big event! These students have shown outstanding commitment, energy, and growth, and we couldn’t be prouder of how well they’re representing our school on stage. Well done to all our dancers for an inspiring and exciting term! 🌟

Breakfast Club - Feeding the Soul

It's is always wonderful to see so many smiling faces at Breakfast Club on Thursday mornings. A Big thanks to Susan Hughes (who has been serving up Breakfast Club for Years) and the team who support her to put this on each week. With these cold mornings it's the place to be to warm your hands and your heart!
