Formal Assembly
Our Term 2 Assembly took place on Thursday 26 June, during which we celebrated the achievements of our students in Term 2. Many students received multiple nominations for subject awards, making it a challenging task for Ms Scott to select the Major Award winners and her Principal Award recipients. Congratulations to all the students who received awards and thank you to the families who attended the event.

Premiers Debating Challenge
On 25 June Tenterfield High School had the honour of hosting Guyra Central School in the first round of the Year 7 & 8 Premiers Debating Challenge. The topic of discussion was: "That all high school students should have the option of attending an online school instead of in-person classes." Guyra represented the affirmative position, while Tenterfield took the negative stance. Both teams presented compelling arguments, demonstrating their exceptional debating skills.
Thank you to the online adjudicator, Siena Hodges, for her insightful evaluation. Congratulations to the Tenterfield team consisting of Phoebe, Chelsea, Lucy-Anne, Alex, and their coach, Ms Scott on their well-deserved victory!
We also applaud the Guyra team Charlotte, Katie, Rose, Will, and their coach, Mrs Annette Callister for their hard work, dedication, and for traveling to Tenterfield to participate in this debate. Special thanks to Yasi for serving as our chairperson and to Izaac for timing the event. It was truly a remarkable display of talent and teamwork, well done everyone!

Farewell Vittoria
Tuesday 24 June we sadly farewelled our Yr 11 exchange student from Italy, Vittoria Reviglio. We have loved having her at THS and will greatly miss her. It has been wonderful to see her grow in confidence and fit so well into our school. At today’s assembly Vittoria was asked about her stay in Tenterfield and Australia and was presented with a small gift. The video is on our facebook page if you would like to hear her thoughts.
Ciao Vittoria - we hope you stay in touch!!!
Year 6 Transition
On Tuesday 24 June we welcomed the Class of 2026 as students from local primary schools joined us for a taste of high school life!
Our young learners participated in an engaging math's lesson with Mr Everett and enjoyed a lively music session with Mr Ryan.
A special shoutout to our canteen for the delicious cupcakes and flavoured milk offered at recess for just $6! It was a fantastic day filled with learning and fun, and we can't wait to welcome everyone back for our next transition date in Term 3!
Volunteering
A huge shoutout to our amazing students who volunteered at the St Joseph's Primary School, Tenterfield Athletics Carnival today! Your enthusiasm and support made a big difference, and we are so proud of your dedication to our school community. Well done!
Chess Competition
Mr Everett and our talented students participated in a Chess Day at the Allora State School on 13 June. It's a fantastic opportunity for our students to enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities while enjoying friendly competition. Good luck to everyone participating!
Visit to UNE
On Thursday 12 June our dedicated Year 12 students rose early and braved the chilly weather to attend the UNE HSC Booster Day in Armidale!
They kicked off the day with an engaging session on Immunity and Infection, where they got hands-on experience with staining techniques to identify disease-causing and non-disease-causing microbes. It’s a fantastic opportunity for our students to enhance their knowledge as they prepare for the HSC!
Our seniors also participated in a thrilling molecular biology session at UNE, using PCR and Electrophoresis to investigate a "crime scene." This incredible experience allows them to apply their knowledge, analyze DNA evidence, and see firsthand how science plays a crucial role in solving mysteries.
Thank you
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the P&C for their generous donation of Casio calculators to the Mathematics Department. Although the P&C has now ceased its activities, we truly appreciate their support for THS and our families.
The calculators were presented to Head Teacher of Mathematics, Mrs Dhadlie, by outgoing P&C President Roxanne Bancroft-Stuart. This donation will greatly benefit our students and enhance their learning experience in mathematics. Thank you once again to the P&C for all you have done for our school community!
