Principals Report

Ms Stephanie Scott

Welcome to our last newsletter for the term! It was lovely to see so many families at our formal assembly last week, which is such a positive way to finish the term.  A special congratulations to Mr. Kelly's Drama class for their fantastic performance. I was incredibly impressed by their talent and enthusiasm and have already told Mr. Kelly that we definitely want more performances in the future!

I am currently finishing proofreading reports which will be published on the Sentral Parent App at the end of the week. Although it’s not a job I relish, it provides an excellent overview of what is happening in the classroom. It is pleasing to see that nearly every student is making progress and showing improvement in some area. Following the reports, Parent-Teacher Interviews will be held at the beginning of next term. Please look out for more information regarding this. Bookings can be made through the Sentral Parent App.

Tomorrow night, we will be holding our Subject Selection Evening for Years 10 and 8. We encourage students and families to attend to start the process of choosing their electives for next year. Unfortunately, I need to take personal leave and won't be able to attend. Mrs. Helen Clothier and Mr. Brian Edmonds will be running the evening, and Head Teachers will be present to answer any subject-specific questions. There will also be representatives from TAFE and information about School Based Apprenticeships.

On Wednesday, our Wellbeing Team will be running a rewards activity for eligible students. This will be a fun way to end the term and recognise students who have consistently followed our student guidelines throughout the term. Thank you to Miss Phillips and the Year Advisers for organising this.

Congratulations to our Debating Team for winning their first debate against Guyra Central! A huge thank you to Mr. Woodrow, who has taken over my role of adjudicating debating and public speaking at TSHPMPS. One of the reasons I was keen to start Debating again this year was because of the fantastic program running at the primary school - I knew we'd be getting some great debaters!!

Our students loved being part of the recent St Joseph's Carnival and will also be supporting the TSHPMPS Athletics Carnival, rescheduled for Term 3. Thank you to both schools for giving our students these opportunities to develop their leadership skills and give back to the community!

I hope everyone has a well-rested and safe holiday. I look forward to another great term of learning and opportunities (and warmer weather!) in Term 3!
