Knox Division Summer Sport Results
This year has been an amazing year for our school in Summer Sports!
Last Friday our Girls and Boys Softball team, Boys Cricket Team and Girls Hot Shots Tennis team all competed at the Knox Division Softball, Cricket and Hot shots Tennis Championships.
Here are our amazing results:
Fully Loaded Softball Boys & Girls
Well done to our Girls Softball team who were runners up at the Knox Division Softball Championships! They all showed great skills with the glove in the field and ensured they kept their eye on the ball to make great hits from a pitch!
Our boys softball team were premiers this year at this level of competition and should be proud of their accomplishment as a team. History has been made by our boys as this is the first known time at St Simon that our boys are advancing to the Regionals in Softball.
Cricket Boys A
Our boys were raring to give their very all at the Division competition. Not only was their bowling accurate but their stroke play made it easy for our St Simon team to score runs. At the end of the pool games, our boys were on top of the ladder and advanced to the Major Final. In a tense final which came down to the final over, our boys were able to come away victorious, winning by 8 runs. Well done to our boys cricket side who will be playing at the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Cricket Finals on Friday 10th November.
Hot Shots Tennis Girls A
This year, our girls Hot Shot Tennis team have regained their title of champions at the Knox Division Hot Shots Tennis. On a warm day, the girls showed poise and finesse in their shots. There was great teamwork in the doubles matches. Our pool games were easily won setting our team up for a Major Final. In a close final round, our girls were able to scrap away with a win based on their doubles performance. Congratulations to our girls as premiers and making it to the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Tennis Finals.
Knox Division Basketball Results
Congratulations to our Year 5 & 6 Boys Basketball team who came 3rd overall at the Knox Division Basketball Championships!
The boys first game was strong with many points scored off assist and under the basket in the paint by Noah Kavanagh and Rory Stone. Their overwhelming win, a score of 72 to 9 lifted their spirits for tier next tough game. A highlight was a double block from in the post by Rory Stone and Smith Whitty.
Against one of the toughest teams on the day, our boys' defense had to be strong. In a close game that was quite physical, the boys did their best to dial back the deficit but in the end they lost by 7 points.
However, this match did not dampen their spirit as they continued to move the ball quickly down court and made great passes inside to our tall Year 6 boys in their third pool games. In the end this was another great win by a considerable margin.
Our boys were in a minor final which started strong in the first half with easy points off fast transition and a strong shooting performance from Olly Oldfield. There also was a flurry of three point attempts in the second half. St Simon’s ended up winning the minor final 54 to 32, resulting in our boy’s being the third best school team in the Knox area.
