Year 9 City Experience

Lauren Cuzens

In Week 7 of term, the Year 9's had an exciting and enriching City Experience week, travelling into the CBD for five days to explore a variety of aspects of Melbourne culture and history, whilst continuing to build their own leadership and communication skills. Students participated in a range of activities including a landmark scavenger hunt, a visit to The Big Issue, a Virtual Reality pod experience, ACMI, IMAX and an MCG tour. Students visited a number of iconic venues including Melbourne Museum, Eureka Skydeck, Royal Arcade, Queen Victoria Market, State Library, Arts Centre and sporting precinct. Despite some sore feet and tired participants, the week provided some great opportunities to foster personal growth, teamwork, and a broader understanding of the world.

MCG

Year 9 students visited the MCG  with a tour of the stadium, museum and game-on experience that engaged all students to have fun and learn about the history of sport and some of their sporting idols.

The Big Issue

Students heard from a guest speaker about their experience with homelessness in Melbourne, students were engaged and came away from the experience expressing their gratitude and awareness about people's stories from different perspectives.
