Athena Aligizakis, Career & Pathways Advisor
It’s fast approaching the end of the year and there are many careers events you can attend to help you with your choices on post-secondary study. Should any Year 12's need to see me for some career advice once they have received their ATAR scores, come in or email me to arrange a meeting between 12 to 14 December. I am in the Careers Office at the Library. Note that most Universities and TAFEs also have their own Change of Preference days so please look up their respective websites for more information.
Good luck Year 12's!
YEARS 9-12
WORK EXPERIENCE AND STRUCTURED WORKPLACE LEARNING
If you are completing work experience at any time throughout the year, note that your forms must be fully completed (ie all information filled in and signed by yourself, the employer, and your parents/guardians) and provided to the Careers Office at least one week before your work experience commences so that we can arrange for approval from Mr Kruger and distribution of signed copies to all parties. Work experience is not allowed to commence without all parties signing off on the relevant form as the student will not be covered by insurance if something were to happen to them whilst they were on their placement.
CHANGES TO WORK EXPERIENCE AND STRUCTURED WORKPLACE LEARNING FORMS
Work-based learning experiences, such as work experience and structured workplace learning (SWL), are an integral part of student learning and career development. These experiences enhance career education and give students the opportunity to explore career options and understand expectations within the workplace. As of 5 September 2023 there are new Work Experience and Structured Workplace Learning forms for students to complete. Work experience arrangements made using the old forms remain valid until Sunday 31 December 2023. If work experience or SWL placements are being arranged for 2024, please make sure the updated arrangement forms are used. Copies of the new forms are available from Ms Aligizakis at the Careers Office (in the Library).
YEAR 10'S GOING INTO YEAR 11
Students in VCE VET or VM next year will have received, or will receive shortly, an email from their host school or training provider confirming their enrolment and details about their orientation day. Your orientation day/time will be in your school Compass calendar. Orientation Days for your information are as follows:
