Protecting God's Creation - Recycle! Recycle! Recycle!

It is important to recycle and put rubbish in the bin to help our environment. By Laura

In R.E. we are looking at God's creation and helping to keep clean our environment by putting  our rubbish in the bin and in the recycling bins. By Kushi

God's creation is important because He worked really hard to create it.  And we need to take care of our world by not littering it and doing the right thing. By Olivia

The provocation made me think about how I could recycle my waste better. For example, by using the rubbish bin, compost bin, glass bin and green bin. By

We are looking at rubbish that people have put everywhere and we need to stop doing that. To stop doing this, we need to start putting rubbish in the correct bins instead of the wrong places. We have recycling bins at home that we should use for different rubbish.  By Cody

I felt really sad that the dolphin could have choked. By

People should STOP throwing rubbish in random places because it is bad for the environment. God created the Earth and He said that people should keep Earth clean and litter anywhere that they want. By Viraj

I don't like that people don't look for bins to put their rubbish in. By

I felt sad and mad about the rubbish around the dolphin's mouth. By

We are learning how to protect the environment from rubbish and this protects the sea animals from dying with all the rubbish that traps them.  By Shamus

Year 3/4

🎪It was truly the greatest show performance! 🎪 By Natalie

“WE DON’T NEED NO EDUCATION!!!” sang the grade 5/6. I had never heard of this song but I LOVE IT!! (The name of the song is Another Brick in the Wall, if you want to know what it’s called!). The grade 5⁄6 were really rocking it on stage, it’s like they didn’t have a care in the world!

Next they proved that they can be singers and that they wanted it that way! “TELL ME WHY!” Next came the drum roll please! THE BACKSTREET BOYS!!! The grade 5/6 and the grade 3/4 were singing and dancing like no other “YOUNG MAN DOES ALL BY HIMSELF!!” We all sang it loud and proud!

Oh no, we're forgetting the main thing about this show. It’s the song ‘This is the greatest show!’ HERE IT COMES! “WHOA, WHOA, WHOA,” there were so many people cheering! Here comes  the clowns and the ribbon girls and most importantly the show man!

Now that was the greatest show performance! I hope you liked the performance because I did and I think you did too!

The Greatest 3/4 and 5/6  Performance  By Ma

Firstly the grade 3/4s played Count On Me on ukulele. Massie was playing bins with sticks and I'm telling the truth it is a bin with sticks. We also sang and did cup percussion. After the percussion people got up and sang loudly behind us, oh yeah the chords for count on me were c, cmaj7, A, F and lastly G7 and the song was pretty good. A few songs later the grade 5/6s did their 1st song called Feel It Still it was also pretty good.

After the 3/4s did their second performance Can't Stop The Feeling. Callix, Nirav, Sai, Massie and I were doing body percussion and at the end of the loudest chorus the percusion people got out of their chairs and we all danced our hearts out but not literally. At the end of the song we all did a pose in the middle.

And again a few songs later the grade 5/6s did a play. They did the song WE DON'T NEED NO EDUCATION, I Want It That Way, Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean, Greek dancing, hand slamming on fake tables/ desk and YMCA.

I felt proud and happy because my parents were watching me and we could FINALLY stop practicing.

Year 5/6 ....  Stories from the Evening

All of the children and teachers arrived at Thornbury Theatre at twelve o’clock on November 1st to practice for our school performance. I bought a poker set and started to add chips to the pot with my friends Alex, Chen, and Enock because I knew the practice would be boring. When the cards were dealt, Enock shouted, "Give me your money!!!" in a voice similar to Darth Vader, with a smile identical to that of The Grinch (Live Action). However, if you know anything about poker, you should never show your emotions. Alex and I folded. Enock had Suited Pocket Aces, Such a hand! And before we knew it, we had returned to school.

The real performance started at seven o'clock. Despite my intense nervousness, I prepared and waited for my turn. After forty minutes, I was dancing like Michael Jackson again. You can only imagine how unsteady I was backstage because my hand is shaking while I write this story. After taking a deep breath, I moonwalked to the middle of the stage and let out a "Hee Hee!"  By Ethan

The Greatest Show

At the start of the day I got up and got everything ready for the show. I was so nervous that I would mess up. When I got  to school every one was talking about the show that was going to happen. Then Marty came out and told us to come and put our bags in our locker. Then Marty asked us to get our chromebooks and bring them to the floor, so we could read The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. Just then an announcement came and said 'If you are on bus 1 please come down to the office with all your stuff” (which was us). So we grabbed everything that we needed to get on the bus so we could go to the Thornbury theatre.

When we got there we all had something to eat because we were so hungry. Then we started to practice, since I was a compare I had to go backstage but when we did get on stage OH MY GOD the stage was SO small but we all learned to adapt to the stage and we practiced but since the stage was so small we could not fit the whole school on there so we just changed the end bit, the finale.

Finally when I got home I got dressed for the performance and then went to the Stollberg to eat. I had spaghetti bolognese. Anyway after we finished  we  went to the Thornbury theater and i was so nervous for the day in a life act because i had to put on one of my costumes and it had a lot of accessories to put on but when i did it i felt much more better and my parents said i did very   well and i felt very relieved and relaxed.   By Yianna

Yianna's dance teacher stopped by to say thanks!
It's all Greek to us!!

We were at  the Thornbury theater on Wednesday the 1st November 2023. I was there eating dinner next to it because the doors were closed and the doors would open at 6:30pm  after we ate dinner. We waited outside until the doors were open.

When the doors were open we went inside and all the people/kids were there. At 6:40 the people went  upstairs to get their seats when it was 7:00 pm the show was starting. When I was coming up the stairs I could hear kids say ‘I cant believe that the grade 5 / 6 are next!‘. I could see people looking at the grade 5/6s doing their show . I can feel my heart pumping so fast. I can taste my sweat coming down my face. I can smell excitement coming from the crowd and the kids.` After the show people were talking to each other  and some people went home at the end of the show.Michael Year 6

We were in the car driving to the Thornbury theatre where we were performing at 7pm. We were about to do a whole school performance and loads of people were going to watch including my family.

When the show started I was scared to go on but when it was finally time to go on for a song called “Feel it still”, I was ready! When we came off stage we were so relieved to be off. We had one more thing to do on stage then we were done.

I was working in the props crew backstage and we were doing props for the performance. I was doing chairs. Rose-lee was helping me and doing other things too. Bethany was like the boss of the backstage crew and she told us what and what not to do. Sandra and Francesca were on the other side of the stage doing the other side of the stage and we were doing the side that they weren't doing.

It was time for our Grade 5 / 6 act, “A day in a life”. As we got to the stage I started to think to myself, what if we mess up or there was a malfunction on the stage but then I thought, we are good everything is going to be fine. I looked around and saw the intimidating audience staring me down, I could feel my sweat driving down my face like Mario kart. I could smell hot food from the kitchen in the backstage area, I could taste my saliva in my mouth and it tasted bad. We got on the stage and did so good.

When we finished I was so happy because we all did great. It was a fun experience and I felt so energetic after the performance.  by Zane

That day was the day we did our performance at 7:00 pm on Wednesday at the Thornbury theatre and all the community was there. Everyone was excited and nervous and as we finished school and said see you later I knew I would see them all very soon. When it was time the students got in early and parents waited and then when parents came in we knew it was time the show had started. The first thing was a speech from Marty then the compare’s and when they had finished the first act began when it finished the applause of the audience was deafening and it was the same for the other acts it was good but finally it was our turn.

Everyone got ready getting our gloves and going to the correct sides, the act before had nearly finished it was nearly our turn.

As I went to up the steps attached to the stage I felt as if a million butterflies were fluttering around in my stomach and felt if i would faint right on stage I smelt the odor of alcohol gently gliding through the air I felt my feet trembling not daring to take another step , I could hear the deafening roar of the audience, I felt a frigid shiver down my spine and when I finally felt courage I said to myself just do it.

It had ended and I lay in my bed I thought to myself  'I want to do it again'.

It was the best day of my life.
