Explaining Global Events to Your Kids

Current world events are creating news reports and headlines which are very disturbing and confronting. Simply not watching the news these days is not enough, as children have access to news content through a variety of online sources, for example social platforms like YouTube and TikTok. As a result, the spread of graphic images and misinformation can leave our young people with a lot of big feelings to deal with.

 

If you child has been asking questions about the things they're hearing and seeing and/or you would like to be proactive, Commonsense Media, have some strategies and ideas on how to sensitively address upsetting news with your child/ren.  I hope you find these tips helpful to aiding positive conversations which help to reduce anxiety.
