Matilda the Musical

Melton Secondary College has put on its first successful musical in over 10 years this year. With a cast and crew of about 30 students they put together a performance of Matilda Jnr the musical. 

Auditions took place in May, shortly followed by rehearsals starting later that month. We had rehearsals on Mondays, Tuesday and Thursdays that included vocal, choreography and acting rehearsals they created this wonderful show. 

We successfully put on a BBQ fundraiser to raise funds for the hire of sound and lighting equipment, which was a success raising just under $1,000. The show was performed in was a classroom space that was transformed into a theatre experience that many were surprised could be done. Once it was all taken down it was back to being just a classroom, but the memories will always stay. 

We had students across 7-12 participate in the show and vast amount of staff involvement as well. The support and dedication  we have received for this show has been beyond what we could imagine but very welcomed at the same time. 

Every day we have students asking “are we going to have a show next year?” and “what show are we doing next year?” I can confirm yes, we are doing a show and no we cannot confirm what show we will be doing as yet. Watch this space!
