Visual Art
In term 4 all grade levels have the opportunity to paper sculpt and construct artworks using different media. The grade 5 students have created wonderful POP art artifacts on canvas. The challenging process took four weeks, and they are currently displayed in the corridor.
All classes began the term with becoming familiar working with paper, glue and scissors. The expression and creativity the students have demonstrated has been wonderful to see. The grade 1 and 2 classes coloured their own paper, using the method of author, Eric Carle (The Hungry Caterpillar) The grade 1 classes made a flower, and the grade 2 students made the butterfly from the book.
Grade Prep classes are using their colour understanding to create artworks and the grade 6 students made refrigerator magnets out of foam.
Artworks have been displayed in the corridor and will be sent home at the end of the year, with their journals. Students are required to photograph their work and submit it to the online SHOWBIE folder.
Our next 4 weeks are devoted to exploring construction using textiles, the senior grades are using needles and threads, and the junior classes will be weaving and experimenting with collage. The grade 3 classes have made book marks, and the grade 4 classes will be using some clay.
