Principal's Report

 Dear Parents,

I hope everyone enjoyed our mid-term break over the Melbourne Cup long weekend. This is timed to provide a break during a long term as we head towards an even busier November and December.

During the curriculum day just passed, the staff cemented the implementation of what are called our pedagogical principles. These can be thought of as our guiding philosophies when teaching, which for Mackellar Primary School rely on our school mascot - the bee. Our guiding (pedagogical) principles use the bee as a play on words,  They are:

  • Bee Connected;
  • Bee Challenged;
  • Bee Curious; and
  • Bee Creative.

These principles go had in glove with our school values, which together provide the tools necessary to achieve our school vision - Empowering Global Citizens. The impact of these principles will become more apparent as time goes on - so please keep an eye out for them.

Shortly our 2024 prep students will commence their transition program in preparation for next year. Whilst there are quite a number of preps already enrolled, if you have a child due to start school next year and are yet to enrol them, please do so asap. Likewise, if you know you will be leaving us at the end of the year, please inform the front office so we cam make arrangements accordingly.

Finally, a reminder that our prep to grade four swimming program is fast approaching. We would like to see as many students as possible learning these valuable swimming and life saving skills before we have our upcoming summer break. If financial constraints pose an issue for you, please contact the office to see how we can assist, as swimming is a life skill that all children should possess.

Kind Regards,

Simon McGlade
