Year 9 Media & Community Media

The History of Horror Excursion

This semester the Year 9 Media and Community Media classes studied the history of horror and how it has developed over the last 150 years in cinema.

To conclude the unit, the students had the opportunity to view the new ‘The Nun II’ film at Village Cinemas (Plenty Valley) as part of their film analysis unit.

Students were extremely excited to have a private cinema all to themselves where they were welcomed by cinema staff giving them their popcorn, drink and choc top!

Afterwards, we enjoyed lunch together in the food court and discussed our favourite parts of the film and the terrific ‘jump scares.’

Overall, both classes thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were eager to share it with the rest of the school!

Thank you to Ms Privitelli (Year 9 Coordinator) for joining us on the day and assisting with supervision.

Short Film Portfolio (Group Activity)

In term 4, students have been learning about the production process in film and, in groups, developing their skills in creating storyboards.

Both classes, have completed a series of different filmmaking exercises where they were required to follow a series of instructions, develop a storyboard and, whilst working in their group, film and edit their work into a sequence.

The weather was on our side most lessons and the students thoroughly enjoyed working outside in the sun and together as a group.

Overall, this semester has been a fantastic learning experience, and I am so proud of the achievements of both classes.
