Assistant Principal's Report

I would like to thank all senior student’s (Year’s 10-12) and their families for their co-operation and support throughout the year, you are to be congratulated!

Please ensure that all holiday homework is completed, work is revised and ready for next year and that students have all their necessary books, equipment and uniform ready for the beginning of the school year.

It is vital that all students commence on their very first day of school in 2024, which is as follows:

Year 7 & 12 student’s commence school on Tuesday 30th January 2024.

Year 8, 9, 10 & 11 student’s commence school on Wednesday 31st January 2024.

Thank you to the Year 12 students who presented speeches to their peers for the role of School Captain/Vice Captain for next year, not an easy task for anyone. The process involved a written application, a speech on an assembly and an interview with the school’s leadership team.

I would like to congratulate the following students for being elected to the positions:

School Captains for 2024:

Riya Saini

Morrisham Teariki

School Vice Captains for 2024:

Ashley Schellhorn

Kyaw Hai Hser

I hope all Year 12 students were pleased with their final results and I wish the Class of 2023 all the very best wishes for their future studies and/or employment. If we can ever be of any assistance, then please don’t hesitate to contact the College.

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe and relaxing holiday.

Year Level Leader's Report - Year 10

We know that we only see your students for a few hours each day, and really value parents and our community’s involvement in their learning journey. Each week the Year 10 team will send around an email to parents and carers with a summary of important information and upcoming assessments. Please be sure to check your emails regularly to know what is happening in our year level.

Thank you to everyone who attended our goal setting interviews. If you were not able to attend your child will be bringing home important paperwork next Monday to be signed and returned to the school before the end of the school year. Please let us know if you do not receive it. Our new Year 10's have settled in incredibly well to senior school. Our teachers have enjoyed introducing them to their new subjects and getting to know them. We have been impressed with their attention to uniform expectations and how attentive they were at our first assembly. It is a positive sign of things to come!

Some of our Year 10 science elective students were surprised by a visit from the Assistant Minister for Education Senator Anthony Chisholm and our local Member of Parliament Joanne Ryan. One of our students, Hollie Nibloe, was awarded the Julia Gillard Award by Senator Chisholm and Ms Ryan in recognition of her work for the school community this year.  The Senator and Ms Ryan were extremely impressed with how engaged our students were in their electives in Year 10.

To conclude our step up experience students travelled to Deakin University to experience what it is like to study in different pathways such as medicine, law and creative arts. Over the holidays continue the conversations with them about what they aspire to, as this is going to be a major focus of our Year 10 program in 2024.

Your child’s tutor teacher is their first point of contact, so please feel free to message them if you need any assistance. Have a safe and happy summer holiday!

Year Level Leader's Report - Year 11

Year 11's wrapped up their academic year by diving into a two-week STEP-UP program that introduced them to their Year 12 classes. It was a chance for students to meet their new Year 12 teachers, attend tutor sessions, and delve into the Unit 3 curriculum. This initiative offered by the school allowed students to gain a preview of the Year 12 studies, offering valuable insights into the dedication, commitment, and work ethic needed for success as they approach the conclusion of the secondary high school journey in 2024.

On the final day of school, our Year 11 students attended an excursion to Victoria University, an opportunity to explore the diverse pathways offered through its University and TAFE programs. Students eagerly participated in tailored workshops focusing on Health, Law, or Business disciplines, gaining insights into the scope of tertiary education. Equipped with resources to navigate their post-secondary journey, this experience enabled them to consider Victoria University as a potential destination for their tertiary studies. The University staff were genuinely impressed by our students' unwavering engagement, commending their behaviour, respect, and attentive participation throughout the day.

As we approach the end of 2023, I want to express my gratitude to the parents, carers, and guardians whose support strengthened the partnership between home and school, supporting the academic, social, and emotional successes of their children.

To our dedicated tutors and classroom teachers, your tireless efforts have been invaluable in guiding students through their inaugural year of VCE or VCE VM, fostering their achievements.

My best wishes extend to all students for the holiday season and for the exciting paths ahead, whether that involves Year 12, TAFE, or new work opportunities as they step into 2024.

Year Level Leader's Report - Year 12

The end of the high school journey for our class of 2023, and a start to the next phase of their lives. How exciting for all Year 12 students!

I would like to acknowledge the work of the year 12 students who completed their VCE, VIP and VCAL studies over the course of the last two years. Much has been said about the hardships our students have faced, but we cannot deny the hard work and commitment they have shown to achieve success.

Congratulations to these students who have worked hard over the last couple of years to achieve their Year 12 certificate, as we have to remind ourselves it isn’t just this year of dedication it is their entire schooling.

I am extremely proud of all students and wish you all the best of luck, when first round offers come out. To those students who have been successful in landing a position in employment, TAFE or University congratulations and those who are still uncertain, be sure to find something that will fulfill your happiness.

I wish you all the best of luck in your next phases and chapters in your lives! Have a lovely Christmas and New Year!
