Year 7 & 8 Visual Arts

The semester 2 students of Visual Arts created Impressionist style landscape paintings. They practiced painting techniques, explored colour theory and completed research and analysis about the Impressionist artists and their artwork. The year 7 and 8 students created plans for their artworks, completing sketches and annotations about how they planned to create their final artworks. The students then used a range of broken brushstrokes to paint an artwork in the Impressionist style.

The Cubism unit saw students exploring and responding to artworks from the art movement. Students applied arts terminology to analyse artworks in a written CAT. They then applied their knowledge of the characteristics of Cubism to create artworks in the style. The year 7 and 8 Visual Arts students fragmented vases, bottles and other objects, drawing multiple points of views of still life compositions, to create abstract artworks that capture the essence of objects.

This term students will be undergoing a full creative practice process to produce a planning folio and final artwork using printmaking techniques.
