Eltham High School Twilight Concert

The Eltham High School Music Department Twilight Concert is being held outdoors in the Music/Canteen Courtyard on Monday 20 November 2023. The concert starts at 4:30pm (students to arrive at 4:00pm to warm up) and all large ensembles will be performing.  Students are asked to dress colourfully!

Families are invited to come along and enjoy the music. It is a low-key event; bring your own food, drinks and chairs and sit out chatting with friends and enjoying the music.

If you would like to pre-order some food to enjoy at the concert, our canteen is offering some options. Please note you will need to pre-order hot food via Trybooking before Monday 13 November 2023. Other items will be available for sale on the night until sold out; however, hot food must be pre-ordered. There will not be any hot food for sale on the night.

Please note if the weather on Monday 20 November is wet, we will re-schedule the concert to the following Monday. If the weather is wet again on Monday 27 November, we will hold the concert in the Nalleijerring Performance Space and any food ordered will be refunded, as food is not allowed in the Nalleijerring Performance Space.

Fingers crossed for good weather and we hope to see you there!

Instrumental Music Program – Intention 2024

In order to plan for 2024, all students are required to confirm that they are continuing in the Instrumental Music Program for 2024.

You will have received an email regarding the 2024 Intention process.

You are required to complete either a Google document form or a hard copy form and pay a non-refundable $100.00 deposit to confirm your place for 2024.  The $100.00 non-refundable deposit is to be paid via a Compass event and it will be applied to the 2024 music fees.

There will be an incremental increase in the music fees for 2024 to cover the increase in costs associated with running the program. You will be notified of the 2024 music fees before the end of 2023. The music budget and fees are currently being approved by the Finance Committee and that is why we cannot provide them to you at this time.

All 2023 Instrumental Music fees are now overdue and must be paid in full for your child to be able to enrol in the 2024 music program.

The Instrumental Music Program fees create the budget for the Music Program to be able to run each year.  The budget is calculated on each individual enrolment. All families need to pay their music fees to ensure we can meet the budget.

All the various events throughout the year, which includes weekly Instrumental Lessons, Ensemble Rehearsals, Music Camp etc are run in the most cost-effective way for all involved. All fees paid for the Music Program go directly to paying the following:

  • Employing Instrumental Teachers and Ensemble Directors
  • Purchasing of Hire Instruments for our students
  • Servicing and maintenance of Hire Instruments
  • Music and other resources provided to students
  • Costs to run events: ie. Buses, Music Camp, participation fees for festivals etc.

As the Eltham High School Music Program is a self-funded program, all fees are to be paid by the due dates. If a student withdraws from the Music Program at any time during the year, full yearly fees are payable.

If you currently have a payment plan in place, please note it is required to be completed by the end of 2023. Payment plans do not roll over from one year to the next and need to be formalised with the Finance Department each year.

Please ensure you have paid the $100.00 non-refundable deposit, completed the Google document or returned a hard copy form to the General Office or Music Office by no later than Friday 10 November 2024.

2023 Second Hand Instrument Register

If you are considering selling your instrument we will be running a second hand instrument register.  The first step is to have the instrument serviced and cleaned. Our Instrumental Music Teachers cannot assess the value of secondhand instruments until they have been cleaned and serviced. Please see the list of recommended service providers below.

Please contact Jane in the Music Office and advise the make, model, serial number (if known), year of purchase and original purchase price of the instrument.

Once the instrument has been serviced and cleaned, we will then arrange for the appropriate teacher to assess the instrument and advise its estimated second hand value.

Jane's email: nio@elthamhs.vic.edu.au or telephone: 9430 5127.

The secondhand instrument register process will open at the start of Term 4. Please drop your instrument into the General Office, marked to the attention of the Music Office for assessment no later than Friday 1 December.  You will need to bring a copy of the service receipt with you.
