Term 4 got off to a busy start for the Vocational Education and Training (VET) faculty. The first Friday of Week One saw students in the Certificate II in Sport and Recreation and Certificate III in Fitness courses complete their compulsory First Aid and CPR training. Ably led by our expert trainers Mr Rodgers, Ms Richardson and Ms Appelhof, students used our state-of-the-art equipment to participate in scenarios and model responses to medical emergencies.
On the same day, Year 11 Hospitality students were hard at work after the bell rang, catering for the FCIP Choral Showcase: hungry families who booked a platter received a box full of delicious goodies, with the singers being offered complimentary sandwiches to sustain them prior to the performances. Thanks to Ms Hooper and Ms Gagel for their leadership and dedication.
VET courses give students real-world skills that they can take into their workplace or community and apply, and these two events are perfect examples of students learning those skills at school, but with an industry focus.
