Mathematics at Westgrove!

This week we had our Mathematics consultant, Michael Minas in classrooms engaging our students in Mathematics and demonstrating lessons for our staff. 

Michael modelled lessons in Year 1, 2, 3 and 6 classrooms, where our teaching teams observed the Launch, Explore, Summarise instructional model in action and strategies to engage learners in Mathematics content. Michael then sat with teams to discuss the teaching practice they observed and how it can be translated to their classroom practice. 

In addition to this, all teaching staff partook in a professional learning session after school. This session focused on the different types of mathematics lessons and how to plan for them in line with the Launch, Explore Summarise instructional model. 

Michael will be back with us later this term to model lessons in our Year Prep, 4 and 5 classrooms.
