Introducing Westgrove's SWPBS Acknowledgement System...
There has been a definite buzz around the school this week as we have launched our School-Wide Positive Behaviours (SWPBS) Acknowledgement System.
The purpose of a whole-school acknowledgement system is to support a consistent approach to responding positively when a student engages in the behavioural expectations. It supports the reinforcement and explicit teaching of expected behaviours and increases the likelihood of the behaviours occurring. It also provides our staff with opportunities to connect positively with our students.
Westgrove's acknowledgment system involves children earning Westgroover Tokens for displaying the behaviours that are in line with our fortnightly focus. Westgroover Tokens can be earned by students anytime throughout their day at school (classroom, specialist classes, yard, canteen, etc.). Once students earn a certain number of tokens they can choose a reward from a menu of relational rewards. We will recognise each milestone that students achieve through a variety of ways (e.g. assembly awards, Westgroovers raffe, Wall of Fame).
This term we will be working through the practicalities of our acknowledgment system in preparation for full implementation in 2024.
Colour Run is coming - Friday 3rd November
We a super excited that our Colour Run is only 14 days away!
Our community has already raised around $7300. All funds raised will be going towards a new shade structure in the playground.
As part of the day, we will be having some onsite activities and a sausage sizzle lunch for the students. So if you would be interested in volunteering your time on the day for a couple of hours (anytime from approximately 11.30am) or would like to assist with some of the preparations please contact the office to let us know!
The main event will be occurring after 2pm, however we will send out the event schedule next week!
2024 Parent Payments
This week 2024 Parent Payment information is being sent home with all Year Prep - 5 children. Please read the notice carefully and if you have any questions please contact the office.
Are you leaving us at the end of this year?
As much as we don’t want to see any of our families leave us, we understand that some of our families may be moving on to other schools in 2024. Therefore, if your child will be leaving us at the end of this year, can you please notify the office either by phoning Reception (9749 8233) or emailing (westgrove.ps@education.vic.gov.au) ASAP as this significantly impacts our decisions around staffing and class sizes for next year.
2024 Student Placement Considerations
As we prepare for 2024 our team will commence the process of establishing classes. Families are invited to advise us of any considerations that they would like us to take into account for their child's 2024 placement.
Please put your consideration in writing, and enclose it in an envelope, marked confidential, and addressed to the Principal. Alternatively, you can send an email to the school email address (with attention Principal – confidential in the subject line).
Please submit your consideration in writing by Friday 27th October to be considered (we are unable to consider requests after this date).
Please note we cannot meet requests for specific teachers and, although we try our best to meet all requests, we cannot give guarantees.
As you can appreciate this is quite a complex and time consuming task as we are work towards meeting the needs of all our learners, therefore there will be no changes to classes once they have been finalised.
Our Class Placement Policy can be found on our website for further information - please use the link below:
