Magis report

Magis Camp

Last Friday, a group of Years 7 to 9 Magis students departed for our annual camp to Point Walter. Our Magis camp is specifically designed to meet the needs of Gifted and Talented students within a fun and supportive environment. The program provided our students with an opportunity to extend and enrich their learning further and let creative talents flourish. Students participated in a wide range of activities including:

  • A sustainability nature walk along the Swan River;
  • Archery and flying fox;
  • An astronomy session - where students viewed Saturn, Jupiter, and the full moon, through a telescope;
  • A talent show – congratulations to winner Joseph Nankivell (Year 9) who sang the ‘Countries of the World’ song (reciting countries alphabetically). Special mention to Christopher Tan (Year 7) and Deiran Raman (Year 9) for their impressively fast Rubik cube solving skills;
  • A genius quiz that tested both logic (solving riddles) and general knowledge;
  • Magis Captain, Daniel Doran, delivered an inspiring keynote address, detailing his growth within the Magis program, the lifelong skills he has learnt, as well as advice to students going forward.

The Camp wouldn’t be possible without the wonderful support of our amazing teachers. Special thanks to Mr Morris, Mr Lewis and Mr Mazur for helping make this a memorable experience for all.

Tournament of Champions Update

Our World Scholar’s have arrived in the USA! After spending a couple of nights in New York, they have now travelled to Connecticut.  The Tournament of Champions will begin tomorrow at Yale University. This is an incredible achievement, and we are extremely proud of our talented scholars. We wish them the best of luck with the competition!
