Prayer for Grandparents

God of love,

We thank you for our wonderful grandparents.

They bring such joy and happiness into our lives.

Thank you for all the special times that we have with them.

Please watch over them, protect them and care for them now.

May they know your goodness and love always.

Amen

Dear Families

We would like to express our appreciation to all those who joined us today at our Grandparents' Picnic. Your presence and dedication in attending this event and spending special time with your beloved grandchildren at school, is sincerely valued. We also recognise and honour the wisdom and knowledge that grandparents bring to our students and the entire school community.

Additionally, we would like to express our appreciation for the kind and compassionate way you engaged with other families. Your interactions fostered a welcoming and inclusive ambiance that was greatly appreciated by all.

To our talented students who mesmerized the audience, we offer our heartfelt thanks. Your exceptional performances filled our school with immense pride, and we are incredibly grateful to all our musicians and choirs and your teachers for sharing your extraordinary talents with us.

Furthermore, we want to express our deepest gratitude to the volunteers who graciously served tea and coffee. Last but not least, we would like to acknowledge the diligent efforts of the grounds and maintenance team in preparing for this event. Your hard work behind the scenes did not go unnoticed, and we are truly thankful for your contributions.

Once again, we extend our sincere thanks to all families for supporting this event - Your presence, support, and involvement have undoubtedly contributed to making this occasion truly memorable.

Kind regards

Wildlife Incursion

On Tuesday, the Year 2 students ‘got up close’ and saw some unique Australian native animals and gained knowledge about Blue Tongued lizards, bobtails, Stimson pythons and the Western Ring-Tailed possum. The incursion was very interactive, and the students enjoyed learning about how to protect our incredible wildlife.

Orientation Fun!

On Wednesday current Year 5 students had their third meet and greet session with the new students who will be part of the Year 6 cohort in 2024.

Students were divided into House groups and engaged in a creative activity to design and make a costume using newspaper. While having to work within boundaries students were required to communicate well, be strategic and plan carefully.

Teams demonstrated great teamwork, collaboration, and creativity to produce costumes of characters such as a Warrior Princess, Famous soccer player, Fire Queen, Bride, Royal Fairy, Businessman, Magician and many more. The unique costumes and accessories were paraded down the runway while a member of the team shared a detailed script explaining the meaning and purpose behind each part of the costume. It was evident a lot of thought was put into each design. The audience was impressed! A fabulous outcome to a great, fun activity.

GATE Game Changers

On Thursday the Year 4 and 5 GATE students attended the STEM based Game Changer Awards held at Edith Cowan University (ECU) in Joondalup. The students had an opportunity to showcase their innovative solutions to real world challenges using STEM skills, teamwork, organisation, and presentation skills.

Well done to all our teams!

David, Finn, and I attended the 2023 Game Changers at ECU.  We set up our stalls, pinned our posters down and set up our prototype. Our stall was called ‘Space Junket Collector’ and the problem we were trying to solve was to get junk out of our solar system. Judges then reviewed all the groups prototypes. During this time, we ate lunch and were able to enjoy activities including ‘Fly Trap’ and ‘Sumo Wrestling’. At the closing ceremony, the judges announced the awards. We couldn’t believe it when it came to the Year 4 section, the judges announced that our group won! We were awarded backpacks, a gift voucher and a $500 voucher for John XXIII College.  It was such a great day!
