Colac Golf Tournament

The Colac Division Golf Tournament will take place this Thursday 26th October at the Colac Golf Club. This event will commence at 9:25am and finish at approximately 1:15pm. Students will travel by bus to this event. Thanks to the parents/grandparents who volunteered to help out on the day. Can you please meet the children at the golf course at 9:15am?

Geelong Shows Interschool Qualifiers

Well done to River and Lotus Rothery who competed at the Geelong Show Interschool Qualifiers last week. 

River finished 3rd overall on her horse Banjo and Lotus finished 5th overall on her horse Roland. Well done girls, you have represented the school very well.

Warrnambool Interschool Competition

Good luck to Tayla Williamson who is competing this Saturday 28th October at the Warrnambool Interschool Dressage and Jumping competition. We hope Tayla does well on her horse Stewart McGregor.

 

Basketball Round Robin

We wish the large number of Year 5 and 6 boys who are competing in a ‘Basketball Round Robin’ at St Mary’s Primary School all the best. This will take place this Friday 27th October from 11:45am to 1:15pm. Students will travel by bus to St Mary’s. Boys are reminded to wear their sports uniform on the day. Students may still have a lunch order.

State Athletics Championships

We wish the following students all the best when they compete at the State Track and Field Championships on the 1st November at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park. Regan Smart has qualified in the 100m, 200m and the 4 x100m Relay and Zoe Medley, Phoebe Robb and Jemma Howat who have also qualified for the 4 x 100m Relay. Good luck girls!

Colac Division T20 Cricket

Trials are currently taking place at school for representing Sacred Heart in the Colac Division T20 Cricket, which will be held at the Central Reserve on Friday 3rd November. Selected children will travel by bus to this event. Students will need to wear their sports uniform and school hat. Unfortunately they will not be able to have a lunch order on this day because it is an ‘all day event’.

Foundation – 4 Activity Day

Each year our students from Years F – 4 participate in the Activity Day. Each year level travels to a different school to actively engage in a variety of different sporting activities. This year Foundation’s will go to Colac West, Year 1’s  to Elliminyt PS, Year 2’s  to St Mary’s PS, Year 3’s to Colac PS and our Year 4’s will remain at Sacred Heart PS. This will take place between recess and lunch. More information will be sent home via Pam closer to the event.

 

Colac Division Hot Shots

Congratulations to all the students who played in the Colac Division Hots Shots Tennis Event at Colac South West Primary School on Tuesday 12th September. The following students have qualified to play in the State Hot Shots Tennis Championships on Tuesday 21st November at the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club in Melbourne: - Stella Foley, Gwen Scott, Matilda Gibson, Stella Gibson, Amelia Veale, Charli Doyle, Astin McCrimmon, Jemma Howat, Jesse McCarthy, Fred Melville, Manny Robb, Stathi Papafotis, Louis Hickey, Silas Walsh, Lloyd Stevens, Leon Whitehouse and Talon Borch.

More information will be sent our via PAM closer to the event. 

 

Year 5 and 6 Swimming Lessons

The Year 5 and 6 swimming program takes place in Term 4 at Bluewater. This is part of the school curriculum, so it is important that all the students support this program. The dates for swimming are as follows:

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? My favourite sport is basketball because I get to meet with other people and play with my mates.

2. What is your best sporting moment? My best sporting moment was winning the Grandfinal in basketball.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? My strengths in sport are my speed and I am good at tricking people.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I like playing sport because I can have fun and I can learn lots of things.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Glen Maxwell for the Melbourne Stars Why are they your favourite? Glen Maxwell is my favourite cricketer because he is a good all-rounder for the Melbourne Stars.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting team is the Melboure Stars cricket team.

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? My favourite sport is basketball because it takes a whole team to win the game. 

2. What is your best sporting moment? My best sporting moment was scoring a buzzer beater with a foul that made us win the Grandfinal.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? My strengths in basketball is my defence skills.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because I like playing with my friends.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? LaMelo Ball for the Charlotte Hornets NBA team. Why are they your favourite? LaMelo is my favourite player because he inspires me to be like him.

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? My favourite sport is soccer because you can learn heaps of tricks and it is a fun sport to play.

2. What is your best sporting moment? The best sporting moment that I watched was when Joel Selwood kicked the last goals of his career.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? The strengths that make me a good athlete is my determination and I have good teamwork skills.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sports because it is really fun.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Cristiano Ronaldo is my favourite sports person. Why are they your favourite? He is my favourite player because he is really good at soccer and he is a great goal scorer.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting team is the Memphis Grizzlies NBA basketball team.
