Please keep in your thoughts those students sitting VCE Exams that begin today. Some of these students are older siblings from Sacred Heart and we wish them every success.

Social Media Warning

As tension continues to build in the Middle east we urge parents/carers to protect children from the increase of war imagery circulating on social media. We are aware of the situation and view horrific scenes on our living room television and need to be extremely vigilant in monitoring this and the other devices that our children have access to.

Please encourage your child to talk to you or another safe adult if they see or hear something that causes them distress.

Can your child stand up for themselves?

This exact same story belongs to many of us.

Just the other day, during a playdate, I overheard my son's friend telling him, "You’re doing it wrong! I’ll do it.”

I patiently waited to see how my son would react. After a few moments it became clear he had yielded to his friend’s demand.

Later that night, I asked him about that moment. We talked through it and I reminded him how he could kindly and firmly stand up for himself:

“Next time, if something similar happens, you can say, ‘I want to try it my way first,’ or, ‘I don’t need help, thank you.’”

We practised these phrases together so that he would feel more confident to speak up in the future.

Use our new poster 5 Things I Can Do To Stand Up to have this type of conversation with your child and equip them with tools they can use to be assertive and kind.
