Year 12 ATAR Religion and Life Excursion

On Thursday 18 June, our Year 12 ATAR Religion and Life students attended an immersive excursion to Fremantle. The day began with a fascinating lecture on the role of the Catholic Church during World War II at the Notre Dame campus. Students then participated in a Q&A forum with the Parish Priest, exploring the role of the Magisterium and asking thoughtful and engaging questions. This was followed by a guided tour of the iconic Saint Patrick’s Basilica, where students reflected on the cultural and social role of religion in society.
The excursion concluded with a visit to the St Patrick’s Community Support Centre, one of Western Australia’s largest providers of services for people experiencing homelessness. Students asked insightful questions of the Director and gained valuable understanding of the organisation’s work, the importance of volunteer service, and the diverse needs of those who access its support programs.
The day provided students with a meaningful opportunity to connect their classroom learning with real-world examples of faith in action, leadership, and community service.
