Letter from the Editor

Ah, the eve of school holidays. Winter solstice? Tick. Semester 1? Tick. Time to have a well deserved rest. For students, the alarm clock goes off; for staff, the inevitable holiday flu kicks in and we'll likely spend the first 3 days recovering. All part of the job.

For some people, holidays mean exciting adventures. Camping trips, day trips, hangouts with friends create an exciting prospect of 2 weeks well spent. For others, a few weeks of rest, Netflix and family time is on the cards. There certainly is no right way to spend your holidays. For the sport junkies, the World Cup continues- with the hopes of a nation placed firmly on the shoulders of our nations' best soccer (football?) players. For St Kilda supporters, we get closer and closer to the 2027 season (sigh). For the theatre heads, the Book of Mormon continues to run at the Princess Theatre throughout the holiday period for some inappropriate laughs, and finally, for the wildest subgroup of all, Accountants (as someone with an Accounting degree, I see you!), we move towards the end of financial year (did someone say EOFY sales?!). My holidays will inevitably begin with a list of jobs around the home and life admin tasks that can be difficult to sort during a normal school day. But like many staff, I'll also be tinkering with lesson plans for term 3, creating resources and slipping in articles found whilst reading the newspaper cover-to-cover over long breakfasts at home.

Speaking of things coming to an end, it would be remise not to mention the Principal team having done a fantastic job at keeping the place ticking over this term in the absence of College Principal, Ms Kerryn Sandford. To Ms Kelli Russell and Mr Tristan Russell who have stepped up into different acting leadership roles to cover Kerryn's well deserved break; a sincere thanks for doing your bit to allow our college to continue to thrive. To the staff who have been a part of the College this term, Wye and Mark, thank you for assisting our school programs to continue with little to no fuss. Finally, we also have to say a big farewell to Jarryd, our amazing IT technician who will be finishing up at the College this term. Jarryd has been instrumental in the management of our IT infrastructure and close to 38,000 (a made-up number, but probably true) laptop problems over his time at the College. We wish all departing staff good luck with their next endeavours.

However you choose to spend your holidays, enjoy doing what makes you feel happy. Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday period and looking forward to seeing everyone relaxed and refreshed in term 3.
