A Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers

Firstly, I would like to welcome to all families new to Salvado Catholic College, and welcome back to our existing families. I also welcome all staff new to the College in 2024. We now have over 100 staff employed at the College.

Building Update

As previously communicated, our new Student Services facility is operational. It is imperative that all parents/caregivers follow the guidelines that have been provided for efficient operation of Student Services and College Reception.

College Opening Prayer Service and Mass

On Wednesday 7 February, we will hold our Start of Year Prayer Service (Year 1 to Year 4) at 10:00am followed by the College Opening Mass (Year 5 to Year 10) at 11:20am. At the conclusion of the Opening Mass the Year 6 House Captain badges will be presented with their badges and will make their Leadership Pledge to the College community.  Congratulations to Zelda McKinley and Jaidee Thompson (Benedict House), Alyssia Munn and Yaak Yaak (Frayne House), Jace Sawyer and Ardee Villarin (MacKillop House), and Aliana Joyce-Mitchell and Charlie Klatt  (Vincent House) on being voted in as House Captains for 2024, I look forward to working with Mrs Pitman and the Year 6 House Captains during the year.

College App

Have you downloaded the College Mobile App yet? It is the central place to access notices, the calendar, eNewsletter, our College website and other quick links, as well as recording absences. A text message would have been sent to all parents/carers with the username and password information to access the College App. If you have not received this, please contact our Administration Team at 9526 4500 to update your contact details.

1-2-3 Magic & Emotion Coaching in the Classroom

On Tuesday 30 January. all Teachers, Educational Assistants and Support Staff completed the 1-2-3 Magic & Emotion Coaching in the ClassroomCourse. The implementation of this program is a School Improvement Goal for 2024. The program:

  • promotes the position of the teacher as the person who sets boundaries and expectations;
  • promotes emotional self-regulation in children;
  • encourages behaviour the teacher wants to see more of;
  • discourages behaviour the teacher doesn't want to see; and
  • optimises the amount of time spent on teaching instead of behaviour management.

Teacher's Right to Disconnect

To assist us in enabling our teachers to disconnect from work and technology before that start of and at the end of their working hours (8:30am to 4:30pm), there is no expectation that they will respond to calls, emails, texts or other communications outside of school hours. We thank you for your support.

Peace & Goodness to all,

Ian Hagen
