Senior School Update

Welcome

Welcome, Senior School students and families, to the 2024 school year. I hope you all had a rejuvenating holiday, and that our Year 10 students are eagerly anticipating the year ahead. They certainly arrived at school today full of enthusiasm, organised for the year ahead, and looking smart in their school uniforms. Thank you, parents and caregivers, for your hard work in ensuring that students were ready for their first day of 2024!

We have a number of big ‘firsts’ on the horizon this year. These include – but are not limited to – an amazing Year Ten Retreat, TAFE placements, completion of Certificate courses, Pre-ATAR classes for Religious Education, English and Mathematics, work experience, a Year Ten social event, and Senior School examinations. With examinations in mind, no doubt students will approach these events with a range of emotions.

Much of the above will be discussed in further detail at the Year Ten Information Night, scheduled for 6.30pm on Thursday February 15.

1-2-3 Magic

On Monday January 29, College staff commenced training for the above program. As the parent of two teenage girls, I learnt a lot from this professional development opportunity. With my ‘parent hat’ on, one key takeaway is the importance of enforcing consistent boundaries to help children grow their capacity to self-regulate, an important skill as adolescents venture into adulthood.

The College will communicate more our 1-2-3 Magic in due course, with parent workshops on the horizon.

MacBook Air Devices

Year Ten students are very fortunate this year to be provided with brand new MacBook Air devices. Parental agreements must be completed before these are distributed. It is envisaged that students will utilise these devices throughout their Senior School journey. It is expected that these devices will remain snugly fitted to their protective cases, and that students will treat them with care.

OLNA Update

It is pleasing to note that many of our Year Ten students have progressed towards attaining OLNA benchmarks. Earlier this week, OLNA results were posted to relevant families. If this information prompts any queries, please do be in touch.
