Principal's Report
Michelle Mackenlay
I was quite shocked to see the facts, 119 late arrivals for our students last week!
When students arrive late to school, they are rushed and often stressed, which causes them anxiety. Arriving to class late means they also interrupt other students, and the learning for your child and the entire class is disrupted.
When students arrive late to school, their attendance needs to be updated in our office attendance system, so it doesn’t show the student as being absent for the day.
We appreciate parents supporting us to improve as a school in this area, as we will be closely monitoring the late arrivals over the next few weeks.
2023 Fundraising
At our most recent School Council meeting, it was decided that fundraising money was desperately needed to rebuild the playground near the Foundation entry gates. Over the course of the school's rebuild, the older equipment was taken out. A sandpit was replaced and a small amount of new wooden equipment was installed. As our numbers continue to grow, particularly in the junior area of the school, this will not be enough. So, most of our whole school fundraising activities such as our upcoming Easter Raffle will go towards this new equipment.
Library
Our staff, with the support of some parent helpers have been busily setting up our new school
library. This includes new shelving and furniture and a whole lot of new books! Our older library books have also been sorted and re-shelved ready for the library to open. We will have the library ready for classes to start using in Term 2, and students will be able to borrow books to read in class and at home.
Smile Squad
Next week, Smile Squad, the Victorian Government's free school dental program, will be arriving at our school. This program is being led by the Department of Health and Dental Families who registered will be seen by Smile Squad during school hours, saving families time and money.
2025 Foundation (Prep) enrolments
The Department of Education has released an updated statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline for the 2025 school year.
The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Clyde Primary School.
All government primary schools will follow the timeline in 2024 to support Foundation (Prep) enrolments for the 2025 school year.
You can find information and resources about the timeline, including factsheets and a poster at: Enrolling in Foundation (Prep). You can also download the ‘Foundation (Prep) Enrolment Information Pack for Parents and Carers’ from Enrolling in Foundation (Prep) (available from 15 April 2024).
You will be able to apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) 2025 at Clyde Primary School from 15 April 2024.
What you need to do:
Enrolment applications submitted after 26 July 2024 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Placement Policy.

Parent Helpers
With all of the amazing activities on at our school over recent weeks, I would like to thank all of the parents and family members who continue to volunteer as Parent Helpers. Whether that be attending an excursion, helping out at the Junior Sports Day, Cross Country, Breakfast Club or any other school activity, please know that you are appreciated and the events would not run as well without you. I also thank in advance the parents who recently completed training and will volunteer in the near furture.
