News of the Week

Dear St Brigid's Families

Welcome Picnic

On Sunday we had our first ever welcome picnic and it was very enjoyable and exciting that we all got to meet new people and have fun at our school. There was also a sausage sizzle, face paints, temporary tattoos and much more. The first ever welcome picnic was so fun I really hope we can do it again. Also a huge thank you to all the parents and children that came to the gathering and a big thank you to all the parents who helped cook the sausages, serve the food and play games with us!

Shrove Tuesday & Ash Wednesday

On Tuesday we had Shrove Tuesday. It is a day when we eat pancakes to get rid of rich foods from our houses such as milk, butter and sugar.  We do this because it is the last day before we give up something and we are then supposed to fast or give something up for Lent. On Ash Wednesday we had a Mass with the Yr 3-6's where Father Andrew talked about Ash Wednesday and we got the sign of the cross on our forehead.

Evergreen Christmas Tree Winners

We are pleased to announce that the Weilgosz family have won a free Christmas Tree from Evergreen Trees.  Thank you so much to Lou and his wonderful team for donating not only the wonderful Christmas Tree we enjoyed leading up to Christmas but also for donating a portion of the proceeds of sales made by St Brigid's Families at Evergreen Trees.  21 families purchased a Christmas Tree and were in the running for a free tree this year.  As a side note - on the last day of school we wrapped up the tree and put it on a trolley and wheeled it over to the Mercy Nixon House Nursing Home.  The residents were so excited to have such a beautifully decorated Christmas Tree to spread the Christmas cheer.
