SKiPPS Fete - 2nd March!

It’s here again – the Fete Weekly Update. It’s a bumper issue with lots of important information so please take the time to read the details enclosed as to how you can help out to make the 2024 SKiPPS Fete the best ever.

TIME TO SIGN UP AND VOLUNTEER – AND WIN! 

The Fete volunteer roster is now live, click here - SKiPPS FETE SIGN UP.

There is a huge array of activities to assist with and opportunities to get involved whilst enjoying time with friends and meeting new parents.

There are over 200 hours of volunteer time required to make the fete a success, so we are asking for as many parents as possible to get involved on the day including extended family members if they can help for an hour or two. We also encourage older students to volunteer with their parents, particularly on the class stalls.

SIGN UP EARLY TO WIN!

Sign up by this Friday and you will go into the running to win a Gin hamper valued at over $200 thanks to our partner Big Tree Distillery. Big Tree Distillery is an award winning boutique Gin distillery located in the Macedon Ranges and you will have the opportunity to enjoy their Gimlet cocktail or award winning gin with your favourite mixer at the fete bar this year.

The winner will be announced at this weeks assembly.

VOLUNTEER HAPPY HOUR

All volunteers on the day will also receive Happy Hour priced drinks at the bar from 5-6pm to say thanks. A hard-earned thirst deserves a discounted beer!

RIDE WRISTBANDS NOW FOR PURCHASE

BUY YOUR ‘TICKET TO RIDE’ WRISTBAND Click here to purchase your wristband for the Fete. 

These wristbands give you unlimited rides all day long at the Fete. (Details of the rides and any height restrictions included on the Compasstix site)

STUDENT PERFORMANCES NEEDED - AUDITIONS NEXT WEEK

As with previous fetes, our stage program for the day will feature incredible performances from different groups and professionals during the day - including our Parent Band 'Parental as Anything 2.0'.

During the day we will have time for SKiPPS students to take the stage and share their own performances. These might be;

• Instrumental music performances
• Dance performances
• Singing
• Magic shows
• Drama or skits

We are inviting all SKiPPS students to get involved in performing and invite anyone interested to attend a short audition just to make sure they are all ready to go.

We will be running these at school next week.

• Foundation - Year 2 students on Tuesday 13th February at Pranzo (1:15pm) in the Performing Arts Room.
• Year 3-6 students on Wednesday 14th February at Pranzo (1:15pm) in the Performing Arts Room.

Students don't need to be perfect but they do need to know the music, the words and what they are planning to do. We will have a piano to play and a PA system to play backing tracks but any other instruments or props will need to be brought to school on this day.

TOY STALL COLLECTION

If you have any preloved toys in GOOD condition, we’ll be collecting this Friday & 23rd of February for the Fete Toy Stall! 

Include puzzles, dress ups, balls, bikes, etc. Come to the quadrangle classroom entrance to drop off toys from 8:30am on both days, or contact Anna 0459 358 865.

CAKE STALL – GET READY TO BAKE

We are once again having a cake stall at the Fete, and we need your help! Slices, biscuits, cupcakes and larger cake contributions will all be welcome. Look out for details closer to the date for times to drop off your tasty baked treats.

There will also be a SKiPPS Bake Off, with entries on the theme of 'Summer' open to all students. More details to come!

MARKET STALL UPDATE 

We are so excited to be having our market stalls again this year!  Below is some detail of the stalls; the success of these stalls is reliant on donations and volunteers. If you can donate any of the items listed below please place them in the tub in the School Office.

• Craft Attack! Need a break from all the fun? Set your child down at the craft table and take a seat yourself in the quadrangle and relax. Get creative and decorate a wooden bookmark, wand or terracotta pot. Donations required: New craft supplies, POSCA paint pens and craft glue.

• Face painting, Temporary Tattoos and Bling - Step into the salon and try your fancy at some face art. Donations required: temporary tattoos & face gems. 

• Chocolate/Lolly Toss - This speaks for itself! the famous chocolate toss game!Donations required: Blocks of chocolate and bags of lollies. 

• Hair Feathers -Loved by all ages and all genders. We will be selling varied colours of feather hair extensions - we install them for free! The hair extensions can be washed, curled and dried and can last up to 3 - 6 months.We will require a few parents to sign up to this stall - we will then be in touch to show you how to install - it's super easy and a fun relaxing stall to be a volunteer on.
