Important Notices

A reminder that, over the next fortnight, there are a couple of opportunities for you to meet your child's class teacher(s) for this year and to share information and understand what 2024 will look like for them.

We ask that you try to attend both of these sessions to set your child up for the best possible year.

Parent and carer information evenings

Next week (week commencing Monday 12th February), all year levels will run Parent Information evenings. These sessions are a chance to come along to understand about the learning, routines and events for the year directly from the teachers and ask any questions that you may have.

Parent Teacher Interviews

The following week, (week commencing 19th February), we will run Parent Teacher Interviews for students in Years 1-6. These are an opportunity to meet 1:1 with your child's teachers, to share any information that is important and to ask any questions specific to your child.

Whilst most interview slots will be on Wednesday 21st February, teachers will provide meeting times throughout the week to support all families to attend.

We ask that you try your best to attend these sessions to help us build a strong partnership between school and home - something that is essential for children to achieve their best.

Interview bookings are now open on Compass and you would have received an email and push notification this morning.

A guide to making a Compass booking can be found at https://www.compass.education/guide#section-09

A reminder that our teachers are always available for short chats at the start and end of the school day and are contactable via email.

The first week of the school year has been so busy, not just in the classroom as our students set off on their new learning adventures but also in the community with two huge events;

 Jazz in the Park

Last night (Tuesday 6th February), we held our annual 'Jazz in the Park' evening. Due to the upcoming school fete (see more later in the newsletter), this event ran without the usual food stalls and bar but we were thrilled that we had some beautiful live music to enjoy, courtesy of Hoodoo Mayhem.

The weather was absolutely perfect and it was great to see families spreading out, enjoying food and drinks, and catching up in such a relaxed setting.

A huge thank you to SKiPPA for co-ordinating the evening and paying for the band from their amazing 2023 fundraising efforts. Thanks also to Rebecca Walton for working tirelessly to find a band - something that made the evening complete!

2024 Midsumma Pride March

On Sunday 4th February, our school once again took part in the annual Midsumma Pride March down Fitzroy Street, starting from the oval right next to the school.

We had perfect weather for the day and it was wonderful to see well over 100 SKiPPS students, parents, staff members, and friends taking part and showing our commitment to equality, acceptance, and kindness and to celebrate the many different types of family that make up our amazing school community.

We are especially thankful to Mathew Bowden, one of our fantastic parents, for coordinating our registration again.

School Council sub-committee meetings

Our school has a number of permanent working groups called sub-committees. These groups are made up of staff members and dedicated parents who meet ten times a year with a focus to make our school a better place.

Sub-committees are open for anyone to join and rely on the energy, ideas and hard work of parents to improve the school experience for all of our students.

The groups are open for all parents to join and contribute to so feel free to come along to any of the following meetings.
