Mitchell Walker (SVC 2009-12) entered the building industry on leaving school. He is now a Director of Podmatix – a firm which builds modular homes.
To quote Mitch in Duncan Abey’s 25 Oct. Mercury article, … “modular construction was a significantly faster process than a traditional build, and could therefore help people get into homes faster. The two bedroom units are constructed in about six weeks at the Podmatrix workshop in Brighton."
“Once the unit is craned into position, works onsite, like service connections, final fit-out and landscaping, will bring the total construction and build time to 14 weeks,” he said.
Mitch was an outstanding schoolboy athlete – he won the Goldsmith Trophy in 2014 and still holds the U/16 SVC high jump record at 1.93m. The Goldsmith Trophy is awarded to the athlete who gains most points for the College in the SATIS carnivals for a particular year.
Mitch won the 2019 William Leitch Medal which is awarded to the best and fairest in the Southern Tasmanian Football League. The medal was formerly the major award for the TFL (Tasmanian Football League) prior to the introduction of the Statewide League. Mitch had previously played with both Kingborough and Glenorchy before moving to Claremont for the 2019 season.
