Week 8, Term 3
On Friday, the 16th of August, a group of our 3/4 students went along to the Writer's Festival in Bendigo!
Students had the opportunity to meet Emily Gale and Nova Weetman, co-authors of Outlaw Girls and Elsewhere Girls, as they shared where their story ideas come from and how they work together to create their novels. They also met the creators of the Wylah adventure book series and learned about how Richard and Jordan’s unique collaboration embraced autism and aboriginal culture.
A big thankyou to Mr Lidgett for organising this event and to Mr Daenke for accompanying the 3/4 students who attended on the day!
What our students had to say.....
"I loved the Writer's Festival! I enjoyed meeting the authors and getting their opinions on their own books. I also liked how they told us how they got their ideas." Lotti A
"I really liked going to see the creators of Wylah. We got to create a funny creature and we gave it a really funny name too! It was also cool to meet the other authors that were there." Jackson S
Students (and teachers) had an absolutely fabulous time celebrating Book Week last week! Thankyou so much to each of you for your efforts in dressing up and celebrating some of your favourite books together!
This week, we had a visit from the Bendigo Oral Health & Dentistry Society where we learned about the importance of oral hygiene and diet. Students enjoyed practising how to properly clean and floss their teeth and were particularly fond of all the free goodies they received! A big thankyou to Mr Daenke for organising this incursion for us!
The campsite has notified us of the activities that we will be participating in whilst at camp - a list and photos are located below!
*Please note that their are still a few students without consent and payment is due by Wed, 11th September).
Mathematics: In Fluid Groups we will be moving back into Fractions to complement our recent revision of Division.
In Applied Maths, we’re looking at ‘Transformation’ of Shapes, then going to CAMP where we will have to put into practice our knowledge of times and timetables so students are welcome to wear weatherproof, non-smart watches!
Writing & Reading: Students have enjoyed learning about Procedural writing over this past fortnight and even had a go at writing about how to pack for our upcoming camp! This fortnight we will be publishing a few of our favourite pieces from the term which can be taken home.
Topic: We have been working very hard on our Diorama projects! They are coming along very nicely and will be displayed at the end of Week 9 for all students to view. Students will also work towards writing a short description of what is happening in their diorama.
