Book Week
It was wonderful to see the amazing effort that had gone into Book Week Costumes! Students all joined in the singing and dancing with 'The Blurbs'. Thank you to families for supporting our students on this day.
Melbourne Zoo
Our students and staff showed how well they are able to adapt and be flexible to change on our Zoo Excursion. Although the day didn't turn out exactly how we had planned we still managed to see quite a few of the animals collectively. An interesting observation was that lots of the animals which have been tricky to see in previous years, were actually easy to see this time, for example the tiger, snow leopard and the Tasmanian Devil. Some student thoughts from the day were:
“I liked the bus ride” – Jarvis M
“Seeing all the animals. I liked the lemurs” – Norah S
“My favourite part was when we got to see the red panda” – Ava G
“My favourite part was when the red panda was curled up in a ball in the tree. It looked so cute” – Max P
"My favourite part of visiting the zoo were seeing the otters." – Ruby W
"My favourite part of the zoo was the otters. They were funny when they fell over each other." – Logan S
"My favourite were the funny otters." – Andie
"My favourite part was seeing the tall giraffe. I also really liked the bus ride and it was fun when I played on the oval." – Molly D
"My favourite part was just being with everyone and learning about animals." – Willow K
Reading, Writing and Spelling:
During week 9 and 10 our Reading and Writing lessons will be connected to various animal information texts. Students will compare fact vs. fiction texts, practise researching and note taking, before writing their own information report.
Our sounds and heart words for week 9 and 10 will include:
Mathematics: Over the last two weeks of term our students will be practising Mathematics concepts which have been identified as needing more time spent exploring certain concepts.
Topic: In week 7 we concluded our topic on 'Celebrating Differences'. During weeks 8, 9 and 10 students will be looking at the needs of living things, classifying animals and exploring different habitats.
