National Child Protection Week

This week is National Child Protection Week (September 1st-7th).

National Child Protection Week raises awareness about the community’s collective response to the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people, now and into the future. In 2024, National Child Protection Week will continue to champion the message ‘Every child in every community needs a fair go’ and complement it with the theme ‘Every conversation matters’. Conversations are powerful tools to keep children and young people safe and well. They help schools and communities understand issues, craft solutions, and empower children and young people. This year’s theme provides a platform to engage in important conversations.

As part of National Child Protection Week students at Sacred Heart participated in Australia’s Biggest Child Safety Lesson which was live-streamed through the Daniel Morcombe foundation to students in Prep- Year 4 on Tuesday 3rd September. The 2024 live streamed lesson touched on enthusiastic consent for early primary years – aged 4 to 7 , and affirmative consent for upper primary years – aged 8 to 12.
