Learning & Teaching

This term our Integrated Unit is based around Drama, Dance and Music

Performing arts include dance, music, musical theatre and performance art. We are learning how to be both ‘innovative and visionary’ through the Performing Arts and our interpretation of the story of ‘The Wizard of Oz’.

Through these different areas we are certainly having a fabulous time in our classrooms. The students have embraced their parts like shining stars and are so excited to perform for the parents, siblings, grandparents and special friends at our Whole School production at the end of the school term.

We started off with the whole school watching “The Wizard of Oz” and began discussing how this links to our School Production.

Just have a read of what each year level has been getting up to this term in preparation for the performance….

Junior Year Levels

The students have been learning what drama is and where it can be experienced. They have discussed how we move our body to music and how drama is part of our lives. They have made some puppets from around the world and learnt how these differ between cultures. The students were lucky enough to have had an incursion from ‘Fairytale Fiasco Drama’ and they really enjoyed this experience.

The students have been working hard to practise their songs and dance movements for the items they will perform at the school concert!

Middle Year Levels

The Year 3/4s have been focusing on the meaning of Dance, Drama and Music. They have been learning how to identify and unpack different examples of this including ways in which they interact and fit in with each other. They are learning about facial expressions and how these help when acting to express feelings and emotions.

Mr. O'Mahoney and Mrs Lorigan are  super excited for everyone to watch their class perform as they have spent a lot of time practising to make sure everything is perfect on the night!

Senior Year Levels

The students have auditioned for roles in the school production and have worked hard to rehearse their parts! It has been very busy in this area as props and costumes have been worked on all through the term.

Have a look at the school getting ready to perform!!
