CURRICULUM FOCUS

We are learning to identify the cross section of 3D shapes.

VOCABULARY

Cross section: where a shape has been cut

3D Shape: A shape that is not flat (e.g. cube)

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Students can either draw or create using playdough, blutack or other mouldable materials multiple 3D shapes. They can then ‘cut’ them and find out what the cross section of this shape might look like. How does the cross section change when each shape has been cut at different spots?
