Grade 1 and 2
Olympic Green and Gold
Olympic fever has hit ACPS. Across the curriculum we have been looking at all things Olympics. The Grade 1 and 2 students have been learning about the history of the Olympics, researching into different Athletes, what it means to be an Olympian and identifying great sportsmanship across the games. On Friday 2nd August, ACPS came together for Green and Gold Day. It was a see of Green and Gold and we were united through sport and team culture. We are so proud of our country and sporting achievements that it was fantastic to come together as Australian's do and celebrate the Green and Gold. Our session started with an opening ceremony on the oval and paraded down into the stadium. From here we had some warm ups and then got into some events. The activities included; Move Like An Olympian, Aim Like An Olympian, Focus Like An Olympian and Balance Like An Olympian.
In our English and Inquiry Unit, the Grade 1 and 2 students have been focusing on understanding what a biography is and how to research and write one about their own chosen athlete. They have created posters and BioCubes about the life and achievements of their person. We have found out a lot about Lauren Jackson, Patty Mills, Ariane Titmus, Mollie O'Callaghan, Cathy Freeman and more.
Athletics Day
What fun we had at Athletics Day. We were involved in all the fun team games in the middle of the track. There was a lot of smiles and fun being had and as we have been working on and learning about in the Olympics showing great sportsmanship. To finish off our day we competed in a 100m sprint. The Grade 5 students supported their buddies in Grade 1 and Miss Buzzini and the Grade 2s competed against each other.
Thank you very much Mrs Kenny for all your work in organising a super fun day and thank you to all staff and parents for their efforts in supporting on the day.
Sleepover
The theme for our Foundation to Grade 2 Afternoon/Sleepover is a 'Mad Hatter Tea Party'. If anyone has any cups, saucers or decorations that we could borrow to create the party space, we would really appreciate it. Please make sure it is labelled in some way so we can return it to you.
5 weeks to go!!
We love Reading !We are all very excited by all the READING in school this term - so many exciting books being read in class . Here at Andersons Creek Primary we warmly and enthusiastically encourage students on their personal reading journeys. We encourage everyone to enjoy reading books and as Dr. Seuss once said, “you’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child.” Andersons Creek Celebrates Book Week!Andersons Primary school will be kicking off BOOK WEEK on Wednesday 21 August 2024 with a costume parade at 9.15am followed by lots of fun activities around Literacy. Students from Grade Prep to Year 6 will be encouraged to dress up as their favourite story book character. Book Week encourages our students to exercise their imagination by exploring the worlds of characters and learning how authors bring stories to life in the most creative and delightful ways. We hope to see the many characters that we have grown to love and cherish, step out of their books and into our classrooms!
