Olympic Fever Hits ACPS!
The Olympic spirit has certainly hit ACPS over the past fortnight both in and out of the classroom. Kicking off the Olympic fortnight, last week, some of our Grade 6 students, accompanied by myself and our School Council President, Jimmy Harris, visited Yarra Warra Preschool and Bush Kinder to bring the Olympic spirit to life through a series of engaging Olympic themed activities. In addition to the absolute fun that was had by all, I was so proud to witness our Grade 6 students in action, demonstrating responsibility, care, communication and a natural knack for mentoring younger children. It was also great to work alongside the educators and meet all of the kids, including some of our future ACPS students.
Last Friday we celebrated National Green and Gold Day with students coming to school dressed in vibrant green and gold attire to participate in our very own ACPS Olympics. The day kicked off with a spectacular Opening Ceremony, followed by a series of activities designed to foster teamwork and sportsmanship within our House Groups. The crowning moment was our Human Olympic Ring photograph on the oval, capturing the unity and enthusiasm of our entire school community. A special thank you goes to our THRIVE Leaders, Peta Dibb, Sarah Bailey, and Natarsha Kenny, for orchestrating this fantastic event, and to Jimmy Harris for capturing its essence through his exceptional photography.
Our Olympic fortnight culminated in the ACPS Athletics Carnival, where our students enthusiastically embraced the spirit of the event. Drawing inspiration from their Olympic heroes in Paris, our students competed with determination, skill, and an infectious energy that resonated throughout the day. Their enthusiastic participation and positive attitudes truly embodied the Olympic values and those of ACPS. Congratulations to all participants and good luck to those who will go on to represent ACPS at the District Athletics. Of course, these big events do not organise themselves, and this one would not have been possible without the dedication of Natarsha Kenny and the support of our staff, parent helpers, and spectators. Your presence and encouragement made this day the success it was.
100 days of School
I want to congratulate all our Prep students on reaching the significant milestone of 100 days of school last Wednesday! It was such a joy to see the amazing costumes related to the number 100 and the beaming smiles that accompanied each one. I’ve observed so many wonderful milestones and progress in the classroom. You are all showing great progress with your counting, reading, and writing. I’ve seen you ask thoughtful questions, follow instructions with care, and build your independence each day. Outside the classroom, you’ve begun to master the playground and I love watching you play on the monkey bars, slides, climbing equipment, gardens, oval, gaga ball, and of course becoming experts at evading being found and tagged in our weekly game of hide and seek. You’ve made new friends, shown kindness and inclusivity, and we love having you all at ACPS. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you. Keep up the fantastic work!
