Assistant Principal's Report
We have had a wonderful week celebrating and learning together as a community. The weather seemed to be a constant conversation, how windy it was, did it hail, should we cancel the park. Somehow we have made it through.
Author visits
As part of our book week celebrations and sharing the love of literature with our students, we had the wonderful and hilarious Nat Amoore visit the grade 3 to 6 classes. This was my first introduction to Nat, who for the entire hour had myself and the students completely engaged and in laughter. She shared her passion for writing, comics, comedy and childhood inspirations. A huge thank you to Joe for organising both Author visits.
AFLW Collingwood players
We were super lucky to have players from the Collingwood AFLW team come and speak to our grade 5 and 6 students. The players shared their stories, their love for footy and their struggles as female athletes. The students had the opportunity to ask questions as well as get some autographs!
2025 Prep Story Time
Another wonderful opportunity for our 2025 Prep students to come to school and experience a fun afternoon of stories, activities and play. It’s so important for them to begin making connections and having school memories to share before beginning their school journey.
Year 6 Gender equity book reading
Today a group of students from grade 6HK shared with us their wonderful picture book they have written and illustrated as part of the Gender equity project. You couldn’t help but feel proud of the work they have done and how they stood proudly and confidently in front of the grade 1/2s and 3/4s to share their fabulous book.
The Block closure
As of next week until the end of week two of Term 4, the Block area will be closed and the students will have no access during playtime. The surface is being returfed and hopefully, we will have a soft, green and natural area to play in next term. During this time we will have the Fergie Street side of the junior building open for play and Grade 3 to 6 students will have the opportunity to go to the Park during recess and lunch.
Have a wonderful weekend.
See you next week.
