The AusCycling School Mountain Bike Series

The series has come to an end with a competition on Saturday in Castlemaine and on Sunday in Bendigo.  A massive congratulations to the U13 Girls winner - Nina!   Nina has won each event in this series, a superstar effort for her first series.

Hugh also had a fantastic series in the U15 Division.   He has finished 5th  overall in this section.

Amelia Kiel also competed, 8th on Saturday and 6th on Sunday, finishing 10th overall.  Great effort.

We look forward to watching these students continue to develop and ride over the summer.

The next season of the school series begins in October.  If any other students are interested please contact the school or  for more information have a look online at  https://www.ssv.vic.edu.au/sport/cycling.

The Victorian Interschool Cycling Series (VICS) runs from October to March, with up to eight rounds at metropolitan and regional locations across Victoria.   Different rounds will feature a different type of road race such as criterium (bunch race on a closed circuit of approx. 1 to 2km), road race (bunch race of a set distance based on age category), individual time trial or team time trial (timed distance).   There is both a graded racing for "Junior" - under 11 to under 15, and "Senior" - under 17 to under 23.

By participating in these schools-based series, riders accumulate points for their school and as an individual competitor.   Series aggregate school and individual winners are announced at the final round of each series.

Riding and racing bikes is a great way to keep fit, have fun and make new friends!   Students do not need to be part of a formal school cycling team or a club to participate in these great 'schools-based' events.   Entries are welcomed from individuals and schools.

Sandhurst Division Basketball

Well done to the Boys and Girls teams on a great day of basketball.   Both teams came away with some good wins, the boys missing finals by 1 point.   Amazing effort and some skilled coaching by Mr Walsh and Mrs Watson.  Thank you to all the parents who attended and assisted with scoring on the day.

St Joseph's Swimming Program

Students enjoyed the new swimming program at Paul Sadler.  It was great to see them in the water and learning or developing strong skills in the pool.

Sporting Stars

Thank you to students and parents who excitedly share their sporting stories with us.  We have some students working really hard outside school on many different sports and receiving some excellent awards. Keep sending them in to Mrs Brown at abrown@sjquarryhill.catholic.edu.au
