Year 2 Term Three Newsletter

What a fabulous Term we have had so far!

Maths

This term, our Year 2 students have been diving into the world of fractions and measurement. We've been exploring halves, quarters, and eighths, helping students understand how to split whole items into equal parts. The kids have had fun with hands-on activities, like cutting shapes and sharing portions, making fractions a tangible and enjoyable concept. We've also been measuring everything such as the length of pencils using informal units of measurement.

English

In English, we have been captivated by Roald Dahl's Fantastic Mr Fox. We've been reading and discussing the adventures of Mr. Fox and his clever plans to outsmart the farmers. The students have been working on their comprehension skills, learning new vocabulary, and even creating their own stories inspired by the book. It's been a wonderful journey into the imaginative world of Roald Dahl, with plenty of creative writing and drawing to accompany our reading sessions. We also thoroughly enjoyed celebrating book week and discussing the characters we dressed up as.

Inquiry

Our Inquiry sessions have taken us on a global adventure as we've researched facts about different Olympic countries. The students have been busy investigating the cultures, flags, and famous athletes of various nations that participate in the Olympics. This project has not only enhanced their research skills but also broadened their understanding of the world. Each student has a country to present, and we've been amazed by the interesting facts they've uncovered and shared with the class.
