SCHOOL PHOTOS

We appreciate the patience of all our families with our school photos. We are grateful to our photography company for being responsive and committed to rectifying some of the class photo errors as quickly as possible. All students were sent home with their class photos this afternoon. If your child was absent from school today, please collect the photos from the office.

RECENT EVENTS

3/4 CAMP

Last week, our Year 3/4 students headed off to Forest Lodge Camp. They had a fantastic time participating in activities such as the giant swing, low ropes course, bush cooking, flying fox, archery, and hut building. Many students also took a keen interest in a new sport they learned called Gaga Ball and are already lobbying us to install a Gaga ball pit at the school!

5/6 CAMP

Yesterday, our Year 5/6 students returned from Urban Camp. They had a jam-packed week filled with activities such as Scienceworks, a Yarra River boat tour, Melbourne Museum, IMAX, ACMI, the Aquarium, Queen Victoria Market, and a night tour of Melbourne Zoo. Our Year 5/6s certainly got their steps in and were ready for a rest day upon their return.

CHESTERFIELD FARM

On Tuesday, our Prep students had their very first excursion to Chesterfield Farm. The students had a wonderful time meeting and feeding the animals up close, nursing some of the baby animals in the animal nursery, and enjoying a fun tractor-drawn wagon ride.

BOOK WEEK

Our Book Week parade on Monday was a huge success. The students had a fantastic time dressing up as their favourite book characters and parading in their costumes.

We want to say a massive thank you to our families for their book donations. All donations have been labelled with a special sticker identifying the student who donated the book. The donations have now all been catalogued and contacted, with most books being put back into the libraries this morning, and the final few still being processed will be ready by Monday morning. The students have already expressed real excitement about borrowing each other’s books. We look forward to keeping this tradition alive in the coming years!

UPCOMING EVENTS

CURRICULUM DAY - WEDNESDAY 28th AUGUST

Next week, on Wednesday, we will have a Curriculum Day for Day 2 of our staff training in the Berry Street Education Model. This will be a student-free day.

As per our communication sent home to families last night, we regret to inform you that care will not be available on this day. We are working with Camp Australia to prevent this from happening on our future Curriculum Days in Term 4.

FATHER'S DAY STALL & AMAZING RACE - THURSDAY 29th AUGUST

On Thursday, 29th August, at 2:10 pm, we invite all of our dads or special friends to attend our Father’s Day Amazing Race. Each Learning Community will have a couple of activities for the dads to complete with their children. The emphasis of this event is to spend quality time with your children. At the end of the event, we will bring everyone together for our Father's Day raffle.

During the day on Thursday, our wonderful Parents and Friends group will be holding our Father’s Day and Special Person’s Stall. Students will have the opportunity throughout the day to visit the stall with their class to purchase a gift. All gifts will be $5.

DISTRICT ATHLETICS – THURSDAY 29th AUGUST

We have a number of students in our Year 3-6 cohort who will be participating in the District Athletics event at Cranbourne Athletics Track – Casey Fields on Thursday, 29th August. These students have already done a fantastic job representing OPPS in their chosen events, and we will all be cheering them on during the day!

We would love some parent volunteers who have completed the Volunteer Induction Session to support this event. Please reach out to the office to express your interest.

SCHOOL CONCERT – FRIDAY 30th AUGUST

A reminder that next week, on Friday, we have our School Concert at River Gum Performing Arts Hall. The doors will open at 5:30 pm for a 6:00 pm start. Our students have been working hard on their performances and are ready to shine on stage that night!

Please note that all tickets have now sold out. As the venue has a maximum capacity, we cannot grant access to those without a ticket. Small children without a ticket are welcome to sit on their parent’s lap or on the steps in the aisle once the show has commenced.

During the day on Friday, students will be heading to the venue by bus for a rehearsal of their performance on stage. We ask that parents ensure they have provided consent for their child on Compass to attend the rehearsal – this is a consent-only event, and no payment is required. All students will return to school before the end of the school day for dismissal at the usual time of 3:00 pm. We will then meet all families at River Gum Performing Arts Centre from 5:30 pm on the night of the concert.

We would love some parent volunteers who have completed the Volunteer Induction Session to support with the rehearsal. Please reach out to the office to express your interest.

Due to different classes heading to the Performing Arts Centre at different times, we will be running an alternate timetable on the day of the rehearsal. Please note that the canteen will still be open as usual, and we have arranged for lunch orders to be distributed during our earlier lunchtime. This alternate timetable also means there will be no assembly next week.
