SOCIAL AND EMOTIOINAL LEARNING

ROCK CLIMBING

Over the past two weeks the grade 2 to 6 students have had the opportunity to climb a rock climbing wall as part of their SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) class.

The grade 2 students have studied different emotions and discussed what emotions were experienced prior to, during and after the climbs.

The grade 3 to 6 students have looked into their mindset and how to challenge themselves with positive talk and determination.

The students loved the climbs and pushed themselves by climbing to heights beyond what they thought they could do, and those who got to the top easily advanced themselves by wearing a blindfold or were timed to find how quickly they could get to the top.

Both days were a success with excited students, and interesting discussions were generated in the lessons after.
