PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

The Moorabbin Primary School Community touch the land and think of the Bunurong People and surrounding Clans of the Kulin Nation who cared for the land before us.

We share our gratitude to their Elders past, present and emerging.  As we touch this land, we promise to treasure it, taking care of all its people, animals, plants and waterways. We at Moorabbin Primary School appreciate this land. Thank you.

Dear Parents and Carers,

SCIENCE WEEK WHAT A GREAT EVENT FOR OUR SCHOOL!

On Wednesday our school held it biannual Science Fair and Mr Mouncer, our science teacher had been planning for this event over the last 12 months. It was a huge success with many members of our community attending.

I would like to acknowledge and thank him for his outstanding work and dedication for the Fair and Congratulate him and all our staff who supported and presented the various activities that were on offer for our families.

Thank you also to Candice our P&F parents President who also presented an activity featuring fossils, her passion and enthusiasm was electric! THANK YOU to one and all!

PHASE TWO OF THE BUILDING PROJECT AND ASBESTOS REMOVAL THIS SATURDAY

As you will have noticed the builders quickly moved to the next phase of our facilities upgrade and commenced on the preparatory work that is required for our new GYMNASIUM!

I appreciate that our community has been watching the area being cleared and some trees have also been removed. It is essential for this to occur as the trees are in the path of sewer pipes and future plumbing utilities that will be built, including the “print” of the gymnasium which is quite a large building.

The VSBA and the school community are required to plant 3 trees for every 1 that is removed. Yes, this will take time for them to mature but as the buildings are complete and the school settles into the completion, and they start to grow around the school it will start to provide the necessary ambience and landscaping that we have grown to admire and love about our school.

I have been at Parkdale Primary school as part of their school review this week and have included some pictures of what our school is scheduled to receive when the project is completed.

This Saturday the builders will be clearing the asbestos from the old year 3 portables, and I ask that no one attends our school grounds until I provide notification from the project manager that the site has been cleared by the asbestos and EPA quality assurance team.

I can confirm that the current level of asbestos is very well contained and has been controlled and managed extremely well by the school it is always of high importance that while the works are underway to remove it that we continue to keep our community safe.

PARENT OPINION SURVEY. IT ONLY TAKES 10 MINUTES PLEASE TAKE SOME TIME TO FILL IT IN

It’s that time of year again where the Department of Education randomly chooses a cross section of our parents to take time to provide anonymous feedback online. From Monday 5th August, through to Friday 30th August, around 30% of our families will be randomly selected to participate in the 2024 Parent Opinion Survey.

For those families who are randomly selected, we hope that you take the time to participate so that we are able to gain an understanding of our community’s views and help us shape decisions for the future. The survey does not take too long to complete, and we really appreciate you taking a moment to provide us with your feedback. Last year only 30 out of a possible 220 parents completed the survey.
