Learning and Teaching
Year 2
Year Two Learners have had a busy start to Term 3. Week 4 saw us engage in our Year Level Liturgy in the Brigidine Centre; the focus was from our current Unit; Jesus in the Scripture. It was so lovely to see many families join us in our Liturgy. At the completion, we had a craft activity which allowed families to create a version of themselves and what makes them special. These have been displayed on our prayer wall in our shared learning space.
Within our Inquiry unit, our focus has been around Push and Pull and the importance of a Design Process. Year 2 Learners have been busy brainstorming and fine tuning a design for a dog feeder using recycled materials.
We are looking forward to Learners and their families joining us in week 9, where our Showcase will allow Learners and their families to work together to create a push and pull process design of their choice.
Year 4
This term, our Year Four students have been honing their persuasive writing skills using the '7 Steps to Writing Success' program. This engaging approach has helped students craft more compelling arguments by focusing on three key areas: sizzling starts, tightening tension, and ending with impact.
They've also been working collaboratively, using vertical whiteboards to come up with strong arguments for and against various topics. By experimenting with persuasive devices like repetition, rhetorical questions, the rule of three, and emotive language, they've made their arguments even more convincing.
Through this process, students have learned to grab their readers' attention right from the start, build tension by strengthening their paragraphs and arguments, and leave a lasting impression with impactful endings. The progress has been remarkable, and we're extremely proud of their dedication as the term has progressed.
