Endeavour House News

With the academic term well underway, Endeavour House is in the thick of winter sports windups, celebrations and finals (for the lucky ones!). Fortunately, winter coughs and colds seem to be settling and the girls are cruising towards the spring holidays.
Recently, I have had the pleasure of introducing and training a few new staff members at Endeavour House. I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome a few new friendly faces to the team! A warm welcome to Miss Saoirse Powell-Casey, Miss Milena (Milly) Wisewould, Miss Axelle Sommier and Miss Elly Bond who join existing staff; myself, Mrs Amber Freeman, Miss Paige Boyley, Miss Lauren Sutherland, Mrs Liz Cosh, Miss Carter Wight, Miss Grace Larham and Miss Mia Collins. Having a number of new staff working in the house has meant the girls have needed to adjust to change. I congratulate the girls on demonstrating care, consideration and respect towards staff working within the house. As you can appreciate, supervisors are often at the forefront of behaviour, when students are feeling unsettled, worried or upset. I would like to take a moment to remind families to please include us in the circle of communication, to help us best care for your child. I thank families in advance for supporting the Boarding Behaviour Policy, which states that students have a responsibility to:
- Treat others with respect and dignity.
- Contribute to a safe and positive residential environment.
- Strive with commitment to achieve their potential.
- Respectfully consider the opinions of others.
- Show respect and care for the physical and cultural environment of the School.
- Respect their own property and that of others.
- Honour the values of the School community: respect, integrity, commitment, and compassion.
From my perspective, my role in Boarding is pretty simple – I want the girls to be happy, safe and thriving within the space and that all starts with them understanding where they fit and that they are special.
Around the House
Typically, Endeavour House aren't big gamers, but in the last few weeks, the girls have been getting into the Nintendo Switch games. It's been a fun way for the girls to interact, when the weather hasn't been so great.
Due to Book Week, we have spent the last two weeks doing prep in-house. The girls enjoyed the break from the library, but we’re back on track now and have returned to the library Monday to Thursday. With only four weeks of the school term left, now is the time we shift our focus to revision, once daily homework tasks have been completed.
We were thrilled to have GSG day student, Caris Stone stay with us for all of last week, as a short-term boarder. Caris was able to code-switch directly into ‘the way of things’ within our house and it was wonderful to see her really enjoy her time with us.
Birthdays
A very happy birthday to Lexie Kershaw, our only birthday in Endeavour this month.
Best wishes from Endeavour House!
