From the Assistant Principal

BE INVOLVED, BE CONNECTED

Dear SMPPS families, what a lovely sunny way to end the week (well it was still sunny when I started writing this!). Thank you to everyone who came along and also contributed their time and services to make our Father’s (and special persons) Day Breakfast a success. It is wonderful to continue to see our community events gaining so many participants.

SECOND HAND UNIFORM SHOP

Thank you, Mel Jones, for her tireless efforts with the 2nd hand uniform stall and for all the lovely families who have gone to the trouble of washing, sorting and donating their pre-loved uniform items. There have been so many families and students who have benefited from these, it has made an untold difference. It also is a wonderful indirect support to the school maintaining high expectations on students regarding uniform and has a secondary impact on our Safe and Orderly Learning Environment. It made my day to see so many older students proactively coming to seek school appropriate shoes as this is often the most expensive and tricky item to purchase and it really shows that our students care about being a part of the community and having the right uniform. Thank you thank you and keep the donations coming!

Again, please reach out to Sam or I if support with uniform items is required. Generic items can be ordered twice a year from the State Schools Relief for free and $85 vouchers for PSW also, to enable branded items to be purchased. For families who are unable to access the 2nd hand uniform stall, we are more than happy to look at other ways to support with items also.

FAMILY FOOD STALL

Thank you to all the volunteers who have been supporting us to keep this stall running every fortnight before, during and after assembly. Thank you also to the Breakfast Club volunteers who support with unpacking and sorting the deliveries from the Foodbank that make this stall possible. Lastly, thank you to all the families who reach out to Sam and I for support with accessing these items. We are aware the stall doesn’t work for everyone so it is still possible to request food parcels or items at any time by letting us know. Other strategies we are implementing to keep the momentum going is to pre-pack items in bags so families can come and quickly grab a bag on their way past rather than pick through individual items. We have also taken photos of the common items available that you are welcome to come and collect or request via email.

STUDENT SAFETY AND REGULATION

Another reminder to families that there is no supervision prior to 8:45am on site – students are regularly entering via the back gates which are open for Out of Hours Care (TheirCare) only. If your child/ren need to attend school prior to 8:45am, please contact TheirCare to enrol them and ensure that our student community are safely looked after.

Another small request is for home toys to please remain at home, we are unable to ensure items do not get lost or broken and these can often be the cause of some friction with peers or distraction during learning time.

Thank you so much, have a happy and safe weekend,
