This week in Reading we are learning to synthesise as we read.

VOCABULARY

Synthesise - when readers change their thinking as they read.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Ask your child to select a book they haven't read, to read with you.

Before they read ask them to share what they already know with the statement 

"At first I was/am thinking"

While you are reading with your child pause and have them reflect on what has been read with the statement 

"As we were reading, I thought..."

After reading have a discussion with your child about how their thinking has changed using the statement 

"In the end I was thinking..."
