Principal's Report
The 'Bullying No Way' National Day of Action has become a National Week of Action! Everyone Belongs is this year’s theme and as we head into next week (Monday 12 August to Friday 16 August 2024), there are countless opportunities to participate in Australia’s key bullying prevention initiative which connects schools and communities to find workable solutions to prevent bullying. Please refer to our Wellbeing page for more information.
The world never ceases to amaze me and God always continues to speak to us in mysterious ways. Once again this week's Gospel gospel resonates so well with our day to day reality and more specifically with the above mentioned Nation Day of action plight. Titled ‘Living in the Light’ St Paul wrote the following to Ephesians, “Don’t hold grudges against others or lose your temper. No more shouting or insults. Don’t be spiteful. Instead be kind to each other and forgive as God has forgiven you. You are God’s precious children. Try to love like Jesus has loved you.” As parents, it is so upsetting when we see children fighting in any context and we hate it when our children squabble and hurt each other. I urge you to continue to encourage your children to be positive, to see themselves in the eye’s of the other, and most importantly, just be kind.
Even though it has been a short week, it has been a very busy week for the Leadership team. We have conducted most of our Foundation interviews for 2025. Meeting our newest members of Holy Rosary is always a joy and we look forward to seeing both new and existing Foundation families again; towards the end of Term 4 for their transition sessions. Staff have also engaged in some Curriculum Professional Learning today. Mathematics presenter Rob Vingerhoets shared his skills and expertise in the area of Mathematical questioning and more specifically how to differentiate challenging problem solving tasks. Our teachers are excited about implementing their new knowledge and understanding with the children.
On Wednesday we will be sending 54 students off to compete at the Catholic Divisional Athletics. Congratulations to everyone who qualified. We trust in their ability to represent Holy Rosary with the highest level of integrity and determination to do the best they can. We are very proud of them all and look forward to hearing more about their sporting successes. Good Luck to all HR competitors!
Finally, I am very pleased to announce that Holy Rosary’s application for non-government state school funding for the 23-24 year returned a very successful result. Last week, the Hon. Ben Carroll sent a confirmation letter to advise us of the State Government's commitment to contribute $2.4M towards the refurbishment of ‘general learning areas.’ The money will help fund the upgrading of the F-2 teaching and learning space. We are very grateful and wish to thank the Victorian government for their willingness to support the growth and development of our school. I would also like to thank Paul Wilkinson who played a major role in the application process.
